A sassy cat who loves music and elegant fashion takes the center stage today. Long-time Animal Crossing fans will immediately recognize her since she has been in the games from the very start.
Meet the lovely Olivia as we show you who she is in this Olivia Animal Crossing Villager Guide!
Who is Olivia?
Olivia is a cat villager with a Snooty personality. She has been in every Animal Crossing to date, starting from Doubutsu no Mori to most recently in New Horizons.
Olivia’s Name
Her name, both in the original Japanese release and English localization, could be a reference to kalamata olives, which are dark red in color, the same as the color of her ears, tail, and paws.
When your name’s as perfect as olives, no need to change it!
Olivia’s Looks
Olivia is a white cat with dark red ears, tails, and paws. Her left leg’s dark red mark is longer than her right’s, which makes it look like uneven socks or stockings.
Unlike other cat villagers, she has no nose in her character design, but she does have a beauty mark near her left eye. She has noticeably long and curly eyelashes and wears blue eyeshadow.
Her sclera, the supposed white part of her eyes, is instead yellow, and she has thin black pupils.
In New Horizons, she wears a Navy Blue Sweetheart Dress and uses a Black Chic Umbrella during rainy weather.
You can sometimes see her stroll around the island with a Veggie Print Bag, sit near a river eating a Chocolate Donut or an Orange Popsicle, or lounge outside Resident Services sipping from a Tea Can or Yellow Mug.
Olivia’s Catchphrase
As a cat villager who has been in the Animal Crossing series since the start, her localized English and original Japanese phrases come as no surprise.
True to her cat name, she says “purrr” in English and “nanyan” in Japanese. The meow onomatopoeia in Japanese is “nyan” and it sounds perfect for Olivia.
Olivia’s Personality
Olivia has a Snooty personality, and thus she can be a bit pompous when interacting with her Animal Crossing neighbors.
She can also be a bit callous with her words to the player, but she actually cares about you and enjoys her conversations with you.
Snooty villagers like Olivia are also known to not mince words with other personalities.
With Peppy and Smug villagers, they can be blunt with their reactions, sometimes telling their Smug friends that they are pretentious, or bringing Peppy villagers back to Earth after daydreaming.
Do take note that Olivia is not all mean. She can get along with her neighbors, like helping them out with their confidence issues, celebrating events, or sharing similar interests and hobbies.
Olivia’s hobby is singing, so you might see her enjoying a tune with her Peppy villagers.
Olivia’s House
Her house exterior has a similar color pattern as her and her default clothing. The roof is a Purple Slate Roof, while the walls have a Simple White Brick Trim with a White Vertical Panes Door.
Step inside to see Olivia’s love of music reflected in her interior design and furniture. She has a Phonograph that plays K.K. Sonata and a White Grand Piano.
Her wallpaper, Purple Rose Wall, and flooring, Simple Blue Flooring, also go well with her New Horizons outfit.
Olivia’s Popularity
While Olivia isn’t entirely unknown to most Animal Crossing fans and communities, she’s unfortunately not at the top ranks as well.
However, it seems her popularity is increasing lately, as shown in Animal Crossing Portal’s recent polls.
How To Get Olivia in Animal Crossing?
To invite villagers to come live on your island in New Horizons, you can try four methods. For Olivia, you can go to Mystery Islands to meet her, which can get very difficult since there are 23 cats with five Snooty villagers on their roster.
The Campsite method involves a lot of waiting and luck as well. The easiest methods are using her Amiibo card, or inviting someone’s Olivia who is leaving or in boxes.
What to Gift Olivia in Animal Crossing?
Olivia loves Cool and Elegant clothing in white or black colors. On her birthday, which is on February 3rd, you can try giving her a Slip Dress, a Mysterious Dress, or a Mage’s Dress.
Quick tip for gifts! To get more friendship points, don’t forget to use wrapping paper when preparing your gift. You can buy wrapping paper at your Nook’s Cranny.
Olivia in the DLC
One thing I know about cats is that they love cat naps. In Olivia’s Happy Home Paradise request, she asks for a place where she can take the best naps.
Give her this dreamland by using an Antique Bed and a Floor Lamp in your design. Happy snoozing, Olivia!
Olivia Trivia
Olivia is featured on the album cover of K.K. Bazaar, together with Ozzie, Cesar, and K.K. Slider himself.
