We’ve found the best Among Us mods for you to try out in 2022. You might have seen plenty of these in YouTube videos, but we’ll tell you how to download, install, and play them yourself.
How To Get Among Us Mods?
CurseForge is the biggest mod maker platform, along with among-us.net. Both of these platforms host a huge collection of the Among Us mods.
There are about 31 Among Us mods on CurseForge and over 100 mods on among-us.net. And Both libraries have GUI, Roles, Skins, Maps, and many more mods for you to enjoy.
But the problem with among-us.net is that most of their mods were created for YouTubers and aren’t available for public downloads. So, the limited but publicly free CurseForge mods are the way to go.
Which mods are actually good? It’s time to find our picks. Plus, we’ll provide you with the download link, so you don’t have to scour the 2 massive libraries yourself.
14 Best Among Us Mods
We worked long and hard, tried lots of Among Us mods, and then shortlisted these 14 for you guys.
Aside from new roles, we’ve found some new game modes, UI upgrades, and even new maps. You’ve hit a proper jackpot landing on this page, we tell you!
1. BetterCrewLink
BetterCrewLink is the proximity voice chat mod and it lets players talk to each other in-game, provided they are close to each other.
Just like the game itself, this mod was also made popular by YouTubers. So much so that there are dedicated Among Us Discord servers for proximity voice chat play.
2. Sheriff Mod
Time to put on that Among Us Sheriff hat and take matters into your own hands with the Sheriff mod.
While there is still no official date for the Sheriff role coming to Among Us, this Among Us mod has been up and running since Jan 2021.
The Sheriff gets one shot to kill the impostor- if he succeeds, game won. If he kills a Crewmate, the Sheriff loses his own life instead. Players can choose to hide or show the Sheriff’s identity to add to the thrill.
3. Extra Roles
Although the new roles officially added in the game are fun too, these have a bit more oomph. This Among Us roles mod brings in 4 roles:
- Medic: Turn one Crewmate invincible, as long as they stay alive themself.
- Officer: Similar to the Sheriff role. Kill the Impostor to win, or die by killing an innocent Crewmate.
- Engineer: The Engineer has also been added into the game officially, but this one has an added twist of repairing sabotages from anywhere.
- Joker: An agent of chaos. Joker’s purpose is to get booted from the game by convincing everyone they are the Impostor.
4. ColorsPlus
Props to the devs who were over the moon after adding 8 new colors to Among Us, but this Among Us mod adds 252.
Yes, you read that right. 252 new colors to take Among Us character customization to a whole new level.
No pressure, Innersloth!
The mod works on private as well as public/official servers, but the appearance might be vanilla to players who don’t use the server.
5. Vampy Mod
Lovingly named after Vampires, this Among Us mod brings a feisty twist to the Impostor by turning them into a vampire.
The Impostor gets two new abilities; bite and transform. By transforming into a bat the Impostor can fly around the map- it’s so broken and so fun.
But, beware of the garlic!
6. Crewmates with Hands
Pretty self-explanatory, this one makes characters’ hands visible. We say visible because the hands have always been there, just hidden inside the spacesuit.
After installing this mod, even the mini Crewmate pet and the Crewmate hat will get hands. The hands going up and down when the character runs look eerie at first, though.
7. The Haunted Mansion
Looking to add a bit more spooky to your Among Us sessions, try out this brand new Among Us map. The Haunted Mansion is a huge map with 20 rooms.
The creepy candles, the dark rooms with working vents, and a dead silent garden provide great locations for both the Impostor and Crewmates to exploit.
Everything is the same, except in a darker setting.
8. The Maze Map
This Among Us mod is not for online or local play, instead, it’s a Freeplay mod that adds a maze to any map you choose.
The goal- running through the maze, and killing off the dummies to finish the game.
But, it’s not as easy as it sounds; let’s just say the dummies are really good at hiding.
It’s good fun when you don’t want to argue your innocence. Just select the Impostor file in Freeplay settings, and enjoy!
9. BioResearch Map
The BioResearch map right now is the biggest map you can play on modded Among Us.
Over 30 different locations, the BioResearch Station is a relatively new map. If you are looking for a new map as well as new tasks, you have to try this map out.
This map has all the tasks of MIRA HQ, Polus, Airship, and Skeld map along with a few new ones for you to discover.
10. Greyskull Keep Map
If you are a fan of Greyskull Keep, this is a must-try map for you. It’s a complete replica of the Greyskull Keep castle and the creator did a fantastic job in integrating all Among Us features like venting networks, old and new tasks, and plenty more.
The current version only has the 1st floor but the creator is working on the 2nd floor as well.
11. Space Station Map
One of the latest additions to the CurseForge Among Us mods library, this is a copy of the International Space Station, albeit a shady one.
It’s a medium-sized map that’s got 17 locations to explore.
It’s currently on the first version so some bugs are expected, but our initial testing proved this to be one of the cleanest mods for among us.
12. Pandapip1’s Lightsaber
Lightsabers and Among Us, who says no?
But, it’s still a WIP. For now, only the Impostor gets to use a lightsaber and chop off Crewmate heads. Plus, the lightsaber has no kill cooldown.
Being an Impostor will be a lot cooler now, and you can be absolutely ruthless with the strongest weapon in the galaxy in your grasp.
13. Crewbunny
Who doesn’t like bunnies, right? Well, do you like them enough to replace your Among Us character?
If yes, download this mod right now and turn the tiny humanoid astronauts into cute little bunnies.
It was an interesting idea, to begin with, and the creator has done a great job with art design. The cosmetics are perfectly synced and everything else stays the same.
But, only the people using this mod will get to see the cute little bunnies.
14. Town of Impostors
As always we’ve saved the best for the last. Town of Impostors is the most downloaded Among Us mod ever, as it should be.
It’s not just a single mod, it’s more like a package deal that brings about new roles, both for Crewmates and Impostors. Then there are different abilities for Impostor, related to killing, obviously.
It’s just a bonkers Among Us mod, and the 126K downloads are testament that it’s a clean one as well.
Here’s what to expect:
- 4 new Crewmate modifications.
- 9 Crewmate roles.
- 2 Neutral roles – Agents of Chaos.
- 7 new Impostor abilities.
- 9 Impostor roles. (Sniper, Assassin, etc.)
- 3 new game modes.
How to mod Among Us using Mod Manager
One slight problem with modding Among Us was the difficult manual labor.
Players had to download mod and then copy-paste the files manually into the Among Us directory. But, thanks to MatuxGG, we now have an Among Us mod app.
Although not perfect, it’s a start and it’ll only get better with time as the creator is working on new updates- plus, it’s open-source, so you can help him out too if you code.
The Among Us mod manager does what every mod manager does, allowing easy downloads and load-ups of any Among Us mod from the CurseForge library.
Heads Up: You cannot load multiple mods simultaneously, neither manually nor with this mod manager, and doing so will crash the manager and might cause game data loss.
