Sayu in Genshin Impact is an adorable little character who has a tough time getting taller. Of course, as anime tropes go, she’s also got a complex about her height and remedies it by using her ninja skills to stash away and hibernate.
But don’t be fooled by her smaller constitution, because in Genshin Impact she’s a super useful character with a lot to give her team. So that’s why today, we’re going to show you exactly how to build Sayu in Genshin Impact to unlock her full potential!
First, let’s go over her Talents and check out the best way to play Sayu.
Sayu Genshin Impact Talents & Playstyle
While Sayu is a little mini ninja, her weapon of choice is the Claymore. She’s also a very fun Support character who banks on her Elemental Burst to heal and deal AoE damage.
She’s going to be in your team mainly as a Support and Healer role so plan your team accordingly. I’d advise pairing her with a character that has an AoE Elemental Burst or Skill to take advantage of Swirl elemental reactions from her Burst.
Now, let’s briefly go over her Talent sheet to better understand her playstyle.
Normal & Charged Attack – Shuumatsuban Ninja Blade
Sayu’s Normal Attack unleashes a 4-combo attack with a nifty Naruto-style teleport on the last hit of the combo.
Sayu’s Charged Attack is a standard spinning attack that drains her stamina the longer you hold it. A very typical attack for a Claymore weapon user like Sayu in Genshin Impact. Useful for clearing adds and doing AoE damage.
Her Normal Attacks do leave more to be desired on an otherwise desirable move set. But it’s usable in most situations.
Elemental Skill – Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash
Pressing her Elemental Skill, Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash will curl Sayu in a ball, roll forward, and unleash a Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick dealing Anemo Damage.
Holding down the Elemental Skill transforms Sayu into a ball of death, rolling continuously which deals Anemo Damage and increases resistance to staggering when she’s in the Windwheel state.
When Sayu is in her WindWheel State, she’s privy to Elemental Absorption which deals whichever Elemental Damage she absorbs like the above GIF.
This is one of the more unique skills Sayu has. It’s also a pretty great skill for exploration, dealing Elemental Damage, and gaining energy to activate her Elemental Burst.
Once activated, it doesn’t consume stamina which makes the skill viable. Sayu in WindWheel State is also the fastest-moving character in the game, again, ideal for exploration.
Elemental Burst – Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry
Lastly, her Elemental Burst Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry is a very powerful healing skill. Once activated, Sayu drops a Daruma which deals Anemo Damage and heals active characters within the wide AoE radius.
The Daruma will only do one of the two when activated. If the HP of the active character is over 70%, the Darmua will attack enemies within range. If your active character is below 70%, Daruma will heal until 70% instead of attacking.
Overall, super useful for Elemental reactions and passive healing.
Now, let’s get into the Genshin Impact Sayu Build and check out the best Weapons and Artifacts for her move-set.
Sayu Genshin Impact Build – Weapons & Artifacts
As we mentioned earlier, Sayu excels in a support/healer role so that’s what you should build towards. Anything that increases her Attack, Healing, or Elemental Mastery will be ideal for Sayu.
This is because Sayu’s Elemental Burst scales with Sayu’s total ATK stat. The more ATK she has, the more characters are healed by her Elemental Burst.
Healing Bonus Artifacts also affect her healing capability.
Elemental Mastery affects her passive Talent, Someone More Capable, which heals all characters and allies for 300 HP. It’s activated by triggering the ‘Swirl’ reaction which she excels at with her AoE Burst and amazing Elemental Skill.
Healing by this method scales with Elemental Mastery, adding 1.2HP for every point of Elemental Mastery Sayu has.
Now let’s move on to Weapons and Artifacts that build off these Talents!
Primary Weapon Choice – Wolf’s Gravestone
Wolf’s Gravestone is an excellent weapon choice for Sayu because of how much it increases the Attack stat. Wolf’s Gravestone’s Skill increases ATK by 20% and has a bonus effect that increases ATK by 10.8%. That’s already a 30.8% increase to ATK.
Add in the weapon’s active ability, Wolfish Tracker, which lets you increase your party’s ATK DMG by 40% for 12 seconds. This skill is activated by hitting enemies with 30% HP or lower and can occur every 30 seconds.
A substantial increase in Attack which in turn increases her Healing potential from her Elemental Burst.
If you’re missing the weapon though, here are some great alternatives:
Sayu Build Substitute Weapons
- Skyward Pride (Effect: Energy Recharge +8%) – +8% increase to all DMG. Hitting the enemy with Elemental Burst/Normal/Charged ATK creates a vacuum blade dealing 80% ATK DMG.
- Sacrificial Sword (Effect: Energy Recharge +6.7%) – Hitting an enemy with Elemental Skill procs 40% chance to end CD.
- Favonius Greatsword (Effect: Energy Recharge +13.3%) – Critical ATKs have a 60% chance to generate Elemental Particles once every 12s.
Artifact Builds
The Artifacts most suited to Sayu ought to increase her Attack, Healing Bonus, or Anemo DMG. Artifact Substats should include ATK%, Energy Recharge, or Elemental Mastery.
- Ocean-Hued Clam – (4-Piece Set) 15% Healing Bonus / Summons Foam to deal 90% HP Healed as DMG to enemies.
- Viridescent Venerer – (4-Piece Set) Anemo DMG +15% / Swirl DMG +60% & Decreases enemy Elemental Resistance to Element that caused Swirl.
- The Exile – (4-Piece Set) Energy Recharge +20% / Elemental Burst regens 2 energy for the whole party every 2 seconds for 6s.
There are a bunch more Artifacts well suited to Sayu, but this is going to be her core build.
And that’s everything you need to know about our Genshin Impact Sayu Build. What do you guys think of Sayu? Any other suggestions for her build? Let us know in the comments!
