Genshin Impact, the popular action RPG, is set to expand its universe with the addition of new areas in the upcoming Fontaine region. A recent leak suggests that three new locations, including a prison, research institute, and dungeon, will be added to Fontaine post-launch.
This expansion aligns with the game’s trend of continually evolving and enhancing its existing regions.
About Fontaine
Fontaine, the Hydro-themed region, is one of the most anticipated updates in Genshin Impact. The region, set to debut in Version 4.0, has already piqued players’ interest with its unique characters and locations. The Hydro Archon Focalors govern Fontaine, and the region will introduce new mechanics, such as diving and underwater exploration.
The leak, shared by prominent Genshin Impact leakers Tao and Xiaobai, provides a glimpse into the future of Fontaine. According to the leak, the region will see the addition of a “Prison” in Version 4.1, a “Research Institute” in Version 4.2, and a “Dungeon” in Version 4.6.
Unfortunately, Tao and Xiaobai restricted their Twitter account and only approved followers can see their tweets.
These updates will further enrich the Fontaine region, offering players more areas to explore and conquer.
Fontaine’s Expansion: Aligning with Past Trends
The planned expansion of Fontaine aligns with the trends set by previous regions in Genshin Impact. For instance, Sumeru, the game’s most recent locale, received three updates following its debut in Version 3.0, each adding and expanding upon its desert.
Similarly, Inazuma saw the addition of several new islands, including the sprawling underground area of Enkanomiya.
The leak also suggests that Fontaine will feature over 100 Hydroculi to collect, which players can use to upgrade the regional Statue of the Seven. Furthermore, the region will introduce the newest elemental variant for the main protagonist, the Hydro Traveler.
