In Minecraft, there exists a creature known as the ocelot. This shy and passive mob can be found in the jungle biome, and will not attack players – only chickens. Would you like to learn how to tame an Ocelot in Minecraft? Read on.
In older versions of the game (before 1.14.), feeding an ocelot raw fish would tame it and turn it into a cat that could be kept as a pet. However, this is no longer the case in newer versions of Minecraft.
If you’re looking for a pet, stray cats can be found in villages that may be tamed and kept as pets in the same manner.
But, if you really want to make an Ocelot your friend, then you’re going to have to settle for the next best thing; it’s trust. If you feed an Ocelot enough fish, it will trust you to not run away when you approach it.
And whilst it can not be told to sit or even follow you around as a tamed Wolf can, it can still make for a friendly mob that you can keep in your Minecraft home.

How to Tame an Ocelot in Minecraft
Step 1. Get your supplies
Raw Cod/Salmon can be fished from any water source using a fishing rod.
Leads can only be obtained by looting chests in Dungeons, Mineshafts, and Buried Treasure.
5 wooden planks can be used to construct a boat.
Step 2. Find an Ocelot
Now you’ve got everything, it’s time to find an Ocelot – Ocelots will spawn in any jungle biome, above Y63 in groups of 1 or 2.
Step 3. Sneak up to the Ocelot
Ocelots will run away if you sprint at them. You need to shift and walk towards them whilst holding fish in your hand so as not to scare them.
Step 4. Feed it Until You’re Trusted
Each fish you give to the Ocelot, they have a 1 in 3 chance of trusting you. Repeatedly right-click the Ocelot with fish in your hand until you see hearts coming from its head – then it trusts you.
Note: When feeding, be careful not to turn your head too quickly, or put your fish away as the Ocelot will get scared and run.
Step 5. Lead the Ocelot Home
It’s time to take your Ocelot back to your base. Right-click the lead on the Ocelot to attach it, now you should be able to pull it along with you back to your home.
Step 5.5. Get Across the Ocean
If you need to go across the water to get home, you can load your Ocelot into the boat by first putting the boat in the water and gently pushing it in.
Note: Break the boat to get him out again – be careful not to punch him by mistake!
Step 6. Keep Him Safe!
Once you’ve returned home, attach your Ocelot to a fence, lock him in your house, or keep him safe and secure by building him his own pen.
And that’s how to tame an Ocelot in Minecraft! Good luck with your new friend!
