Pokemon GO Stardust is a very valuable resource. It can be used to increase the CP and strength of your Pokemon and it is also necessary if you want to trade Pokemon with friends.
While the resource is incredibly valuable, it’s not very abundant. It can be pretty hard to save up Stardust, especially when you enjoy leveling up your Pokemon for battles.
That’s why players need to know how to get Stardust in Pokemon GO consistently and easily.
1. Catch Pokemon
Every time that you catch a Pokemon, you will be rewarded with a little bit of Stardust (~100).
Catching Pokemon is the best way to get Stardust in Pokemon GO because you can do it indefinitely. The only thing limiting your Stardust earning potential is the number of Pokeballs you have.
This also means you’re practically trading Pokeballs for Stardust. It is also quite time-consuming if there are only stage 1 Pokemon around you.
Luckily, Pokemon GO has a few different boosts available in order to speed the process up a bit.
i. Catching Evolutions
You actually get more Stardust for catching higher stages of Pokemon. So if you can find stage 2 or 3 Pokemon, you’ll be swimming in Stardust.
Stage | Stardust Rewarded |
1 | 100 |
2 | 300 |
3 | 500 |
ii. First Catch of the Day & Catch Streaks
Every single day that you play, if you catch a Pokemon you will earn extra Stardust for the first Pokemon you catch.
On top of this First Catch Bonus, you will also be rewarded for playing consecutive days in a row (up to 7, then it resets).
This means that to maximize your Stardust, you should launch the game and catch a Pokemon, or spin a PokeStop every single day.
Streak (Days) | Stardust | XP |
1 | 600 | 500 |
2 | 600 | 500 |
3 | 600 | 500 |
4 | 600 | 500 |
5 | 600 | 500 |
6 | 600 | 500 |
7 | 600 | 500 |
2. Hatch Eggs
If you want to know how to get a lot of Stardust in Pokemon GO without much work, hatching Eggs is the way to go. Simply walk with your eggs in the incubator, hatch them, and you will be rewarded with a new Pokemon and a load of Stardust.
The amount of Stardust you net from Eggs actually depends on how long the Egg takes to hatch. The current (May 2022) Stardust ratio is as follows:
Distance to Hatch (km’s) | Stardust Reward |
2 km | 400 – 800 |
5 – 7 km | 800 – 1.6k |
10 km | 1.6k – 3.2k |
12 km | 3.2k – 6.4k |
3. Research Projects
Field Research, Timed Research, and Special Research projects are all fantastic ways to earn Stardust in Pokemon GO. These tasks will have you complete a number of different things in order to claim their rewards, which will sometimes be Stardust.
Players are given one Field Research task every day and can earn an extra one by spinning a PokeStop.
The big dust can be earned from Special Research Tasks, which are handed out by Professor Willow.
4. Defeat Team GO Rocket
Occasionally you’ll see Team Rocket blimps floating around the map. You can find these by looking for circular shadows.
Every time you defeat a Grunt through these blimps, you will receive a few hundred Stardust. Defeat six of these Grunts and you’ll be able to build a Rocket Radar. This Radar can be used to fight a Team GO Rocket leader.
When you defeat that leader, you’ll be rewarded with 1,000 Stardust for all of your hard work! Defeat six of these leaders for a Super Radar, which you can use to beat Giovanni for 5,000 Stardust.
5. Trainer Battles
If you’re a fan of PvP, then you’re in luck. You can earn some Stardust through just about any PvP battle, whether you’re going against friends or participating in the GO Battle League.
Just note that you can only earn rewards for the first three battles of each day, but these rewards will be around 500 – 1,000 Stardust per battle.
The GO Battle League also works in seasons, and players are rewarded at the end of every season with Stardust. The higher Rank you are in the GO Battle League, the more Stardust you will earn.
6. Pokemon GO Raids
Raids are another fun way to earn Stardust, but it is also limited. Raids appear over Gyms and they vary greatly in difficulty depending on which Pokemon you’re going against.
The best part about Raids, though, is that you can bring your friends along with you. You can even purchase Remote Raid Passes from the shop if you want to Raid from home.
Keep in mind that you can only earn Stardust once from each Raid. You can defeat a Raid as many times as you want, but it will only reward Stardust once.
7. Adventure Sync
Walking is another fantastic way to earn Stardust. Even if you do not feel like keeping your Pokemon GO app open all day, you can still earn steps and with them, rewards.
If you head to your settings, you can turn on Adventure Sync. This will allow Pokemon GO to continue to track your steps, even when your app is closed.
You can walk up to 100km per week, and receive around 10,000 Stardust for your steps. At a minimum, Pokemon GO will reward Stardust for 25km per week if you can’t walk as much.
