Crafting is a big part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Later in the game, you’ll probably encounter a request to craft Log Stakes, maybe to make crude fences for your island or for a bigger crafting recipe.
If you don’t know how to get log stakes in Animal Crossing, you can get stuck for some time, slowing down your game progress.
No need to worry! Ready your crafting gear and let’s learn how to get log stakes in Animal Crossing!

Log Stakes DIY Recipe
Where To Get Log Stakes Recipe for Player One
For Resident Representatives or the first player in New Horizons, you get the Log Stakes DIY Recipe early in the game.
After settling in on your new island and resting inside your tent, Tom Nook will talk to you the very next morning.
He will encourage you to learn how to craft items and will teach you how to make a Flimsy Fishing Rod and Flimsy Net. Use these two tools to catch bugs and fish.
Catch five critters and give them to Tom Nook. As you give him these critters one by one, he will give you rewards like beginner DIY recipes, as well as mention his friend Blathers. One of these beginner DIY recipes is for Log Stakes.
Where To Get Log Stakes Recipe for Player Two
For secondary players, it’s unfortunately trickier to get Log Stakes. After thoroughly checking your DIY Recipes+ App on your NookPhone, you’ve probably noticed that your Log Stakes recipe is missing.
It’s not included in the recipe packs available from Timmy and Tommy at your Nook’s Cranny. And it also doesn’t seem to be included in your redeemable items from your Nook Stop.
This is quite stressful for secondary players because Log Stakes fencing is a neat thing to do to decorate and organize your island early in the game.
Plus, you need to get Log Stakes for bridges, particularly your first bridge with the Bridge Construction Kit Recipe.
Your best bet is to get it from Message Bottles, crafting villagers, or from other players. This involves luck and chance, so it might take a while before you can learn it.
Message Bottles or recipe bottles wash up on your shore every day, so be sure to check your shoreline to get one bottle a day. All players on your Switch can log in and get their own recipe bottles.
Crafting villagers can also give you this recipe. It seems like Smug villagers will most likely give you this exact DIY. Check your villagers morning, noon or afternoon, and at night, to get three recipes a day.
The Animal Crossing community might be able to help with this. Other players can give you their duplicate Log Stakes recipe.
Make sure you make it clear how the deal should go, e.g. if it’s for free or if you need to give bells, Nook Miles Tickets, other recipes, or items. Stay safe when trading!
Lastly, Reddit user u/Rachi4343 reports that you can actually get this by crafting on the crafting table inside Resident Services. I cannot verify if this is legit, but there’s no harm in trying and I hope this easy solution works!
