Genshin Impact, the popular action RPG, is set to introduce a new character hailing from the upcoming Fontaine region. This revelation comes from a recent leak, adding to the anticipation of the game’s fans worldwide.
The Arrival of Fontaine
Since its launch in 2020, Genshin Impact has been expanding its world, adding one major region each year. Following the addition of the Sumeru region in August 2022, the game is now gearing up to unveil the Fontaine region.
A teaser video released at the end of a recent live stream event hinted at the introduction of a new gameplay mechanic – diving, which is currently not available in the game.
A New Character from Fontaine
A reliable Genshin Impact leaker, Hoyoverse_Leak, has shared an image of a new character expected to play a significant role in the Fontaine storyline. The leak suggests that this character will be associated with Fontaine’s navy, and there are at least five more NPC models linked to the region’s naval power.
Given that Fontaine is known as the Hydro region, it’s not surprising that it will have a navy. Players are anticipating a region filled with lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, similar to how the Sumeru region is covered with deserts.
The leaked character has sparked speculations among players. Some believe that she might play a role similar to Beidou in the Liyue region. Beidou, a four-star Electro user, is the captain of The Crux, a powerful armed fleet based in Liyue Harbor. She is known for her fearless attitude towards Liyue Qixing, the Geo nation’s main governing body.

There’s limited information about this new character, but fans are hoping that she will be a Geo user. The last Geo character introduced was Yunjin, who was added to the game over 500 days ago in update 2.4. Some fans believe that the character’s blonde hair and orange outfit could indicate that she’s a Geo user.
However, there have been similar misconceptions in the past. For instance, Kazuha was initially thought to be a Pyro user based on his design until HoYoverse confirmed that he uses the Anemo element.
According to previous leaks, update 4.0 will introduce three other Genshin Impact characters. This means that players might have to wait a few months before this new character joins the roster.
