Parrot is a passive mob in Minecraft that was added in the 1.12 update, with many colors and a tiny shape.
Parrots can also mimic other nearby hostile mobs‘ sounds. This one is a great unique ability that makes Parrots become friends with many players.
So today, we will answer the question “what do Parrots eat in Minecraft?”
Parrots only spawn in some rare biomes like Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, and Sparse Jungle. Finding one is hard enough, but how do you feed and bring it with you? Let’s find out!
What Do Parrots Eat in Minecraft?
Parrots in Minecraft can eat a lot of different seeds including wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, beetroot seeds, and melon seeds.
When you’ve found one, just place them in your hot bar, look at the Parrot, and right-click it with the seeds. Doing so will have a 10% chance to tame a Parrot.
When tamed, you can right-click a Parrot to make it sit down or stand up just like wolves. Parrots can follow the player and instantly teleport to you if they’re too far away.
The special thing about Parrots is that they can’t be bred. Whatever you feed them is just for taming purposes. You can’t breed or even heal Parrots with any seeds or food items.
If you have a spare cookie, keep it far away from your Parrots! Feeding a cookie to a Parrot will instantly kill it. This is a good reference from Mojang where in real life, chocolate in cookies is toxic to Parrots.
