Kick, the gaming and live streaming platform, has experienced a remarkable surge in viewership as former Twitch stars dominate the service.
Kick’s Rise and Its Rivalry with Twitch
Positioning itself as the “most rewarding gaming and live streaming platform,” Kick was established in October 2022 and officially launched in January.
Its early success can be attributed, in part, to its growing rivalry with Twitch, with numerous Twitch streamers transitioning to Kick.
Recent data reveals the extraordinary growth Kick has achieved in a remarkably short period.
The State of the Stream report by StreamElements, incorporating data from Streams Charts, highlights Kick’s meteoric month-on-month expansion, surpassing a remarkable 400%.
The report’s viewership statistics are based on the number of hours watched. From January to April, Kick experienced a staggering 404% increase in viewership.
In January, Kick users consumed 12.8 million hours of content, which skyrocketed to approximately 51.8 million hours by April. StreamElements attributes the significant jump in April to the launch of Kick’s mobile app.
Expanding User Base and Creator Community
Kick not only attracts more users but also continues to draw in new creators. By the end of January, the platform had garnered over 9,000 active channels.
In April, this number surged to nearly 67,000 active channels. The influx of new creators undoubtedly contributed to Kick’s month-over-month viewership surge.
The platform’s appeal is further enhanced by the migration of popular Twitch streamers to Kick.
Prominent names such as Trainwrecks and Adin Ross have made the switch, garnering attention and boosting Kick’s popularity. Rumors are circulating that Kai Cenat may also consider joining Kick, adding to the platform’s allure.
Kick’s Future Expansion
As Kick’s community continues to expand, it will be intriguing to observe how the platform evolves in the coming months.
With its exponential growth and increasing presence of notable creators, Kick is poised to solidify its position in the live streaming landscape.
The competition between Kick and Twitch intensifies, creating a dynamic and exciting environment for both streamers and viewers.
With its commitment to rewarding creators and engaging viewers, Kick aims to provide an appealing alternative to traditional streaming platforms.
As the platform’s user base expands and more content is produced, Kick’s influence in the gaming and live streaming industry is set to grow further, captivating audiences and fostering the success of its creators.
