Livestreamers Suspendas and Slightly Homeless, known for their content on the platform Kick, were recently arrested and held by police in Nepal.
The charges against them stemmed from their interactions with young girls, with one instance involving a marriage proposal to a 15-year-old girl.
Kick streamers in Nepal under scrutiny
Currently in Nepal for streaming IRL (In Real Life) content, a number of Kick streamers, including Ice Poseidon, have been drawing attention to themselves.
However, it was Suspendas and Slightly Homeless who found themselves in legal trouble after their encounters with underage girls during a livestream on May 18.
During their livestream, Suspendas and Slightly Homeless engaged in conversations with two girls who revealed they were in grade 10, indicating an age range of 15 to 16 years old.
A clip of this interaction was shared on the r/Nepal subreddit, with the uploader urging others to report the video to the police. Shortly after, police arrived at the scene, and the livestream abruptly ended.
Arrest, release, and US Embassy involvement
Following their arrest, Suspendas and Slightly Homeless were taken into custody in Nepal. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when a woman claiming to be from the US Embassy arrived and initiated discussions with the streamers.
She explained that the police had apprehended them due to inappropriate behavior captured on video, such as Slightly Homeless rapping about inappropriate topics and proposing marriage to an underage girl.
Slightly Homeless admitted to his wrongdoing, acknowledging that he had said things he shouldn’t have. The US Embassy representative advised the pair to seek legal counsel from available attorneys.
The severity of the charges and potential outcomes
The US Embassy official also highlighted the gravity of the charges against Suspendas and Slightly Homeless. In the most extreme scenario, they could have faced up to ten years in prison.
However, it was indicated that deportation was a likely outcome for both streamers. TheRealMoisesB, another Kick streamer, shared that Slightly Homeless had contacted his parents and was in tears, expecting to be deported.
Meanwhile, Suspendas was informed that he might spend up to 60 days in Nepalese prison.
In a surprising turn of events, Suspendas contacted Ice Poseidon and confirmed that he, along with the other content creators, had been released.
He described the entire incident as a “big misunderstanding” and declared his innocence, stating, “Some fcking bullsht happened, but I’m not guilty of anything.”
Previous controversies involving Suspendas
It’s worth noting that Suspendas has faced controversies on the Kick platform before.
He has been accused of engaging in sexual acts in front of a child, sexually assaulting a woman during a livestream, and exhibiting disrespectful behavior towards Japanese individuals on a train.
As the news of this incident unfolds, it highlights the importance of responsible behavior and ethical conduct among livestreamers, particularly when it comes to interactions with underage individuals.
Platforms and communities must remain vigilant in addressing such issues and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
