Far Cry 5 featured a fantastic campaign with one of the largest open world games and a satisfying shooting system. Despite releasing in 2018, the game still stands out today thanks to the amount of content Ubisoft put into it.
However, it is only a matter of time before you get tired of talking to NPCs and following them around. Naturally, you’ll be asking yourself “is Far Cry 5 multiplayer?”
That is why we will be taking a look back at this Ubisoft classic and answering this question for you. Playing the game with a friend can be quite fun and interesting. With that said, let’s dive right in and find out if Far Cry 5 is multiplayer or not.
Far Cry 5: Is it Multiplayer?
Luckily, Far Cry 5 does feature a co-op or multiplayer mode. This is a welcomed addition after players complained that Far Cry Primal did not have this mode despite Ubisoft adding it since Far Cry 3.
Far Cry 5’s multiplayer is quite chaotic as you wage war against the cultists and take down their leaders one by one. Now that you know that the game has a co-op mode, let’s find out some of the interesting aspects of it.
Up to Two Players Can Play
If you’ve dreamed of having an entire group of buddies roaming alongside you on the roads of Montana spreading terror, well, we’ve got some bad news.
The multiplayer mode can only be played by two players. Not to take anything away from it though, the game still feels extremely fun and refreshing. So you’ll have to be picky with who you invite or with who you join or help.
You Can Play the Entire Campaign With a Friend
Now comes the fun part, the campaign. Far Cry 5 allows you to team up with a friend and play the entire campaign without any issues. The main story of the game was designed while keeping co-op in mind, hence the co-op spots in the game.
However, keep in mind that whatever progress you make, will be counted towards the host’s campaign. If you helped your friend clear out a mission, it won’t be completed in your story, just theirs.
Also, the game does not feature any PvP aspect. While some players might be disappointed by this, I think that this is a good approach.
Join a player’s world and help them clear out the cultists and move on. If you want to make things interesting, you can start counting kills to see which one of you gets the higher number after your session is over.
On a side note, you can turn on Friendly Fire to have a little unofficial PvP match with your buddy.
The Map Editor is Also Available
Another great feature Ubisoft has recently implemented in their games is the Far Cry 5 Map Editor. This allows you to edit and create entire maps from your imagination. The only limit is your creativity – and the occasional game design, but we don’t talk about that.
The good thing is that you can also use this feature in co-op modes. You can create a map and place enemies wherever you want and play that map with your friend.
If you want to make things more interesting, you can set various objectives that you have to complete and things that you have to do on that map. Creating a whole sandbox world within the game can feel oddly satisfying and rewarding.
In addition to having a flexible and relatively complex map editor, you can also do a PvP match in these custom maps. Since this isn’t an official PvP system, don’t expect any score-tracking or reward tracks.
If the features mentioned above interest you, go on out there and invite your buddy to play Far Cry 5 multiplayer right now! The game becomes twice as fun and can be surprisingly challenging as well.
How to play co-op in Far Cry 5:
- Open the in-game menu.
- Select Online, then Invite friends.
- Choose the friend you would like to invite.
Keep in mind that console players will require an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership to access co-Rememberop features. Also, the game does not feature cross-platform support. So, you can only play with your friends on the same platform.
That’s everything you need to know about “is Far Cry 5 multiplayer?” The features a great co-op mode that is extremely fun. We would love to hear your fun and wacky stories of Far Cry 5 with your buddy. Let us know in the comments below if you like this mode or do you prefer to play the game alone.
