How to Make a Smoker in Minecraft

The Smoker is an upgraded version of a normal Furnace in Minecraft. It can only be used to cook food items but the speed is double compared to a normal Furnace. That means you can cook twice as fast while saving half of the fuel.

What You Need to Craft Smoker

4x Log/Wood/Stripped Log/Stripped Wood/Stem/Hyphae
1x Crafting Table
1x Furnace

How to Make a Smoker in Minecraft

Step 1: Collect 4x Any Wood Type

You can use any 4x block of the same wood type or variant to craft a Smoker.

There are 6 types of Log in the Overworld and 2 in the Nether dimension. They are Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Crimson, and Warped Stem.

Logs can be easily obtained by chopping down trees. They will drop the corresponding wood type depending on the tree you chop. For example, Oak Tree will drop Oak Log.

Stem includes Crimson Stem and Warped Stem, which are the new log type that only spawns in the Nether dimension. They have the same functionality as any overworld Logs.

You can use a stripped version of a normal Log or Stem to craft a Smoker. They can be obtained by right-clicking on a normal Log or Stem with an Axe.

Another variation that can be used to craft a Smoker is Wood or Hyphae. You can get them by putting Log or Stem in a 2×2 shape in the crafting grid. Every 4x Log will turn into 3x Wood.

Step 2: Collect 1x Crafting Table

If you have any leftover Log from the previous step, press E and put it in the crafting grid to craft 4x Planks.

Then put 4x Planks in a 2×2 shape to craft a 1x Crafting Table. Easy as that!

Step 3: Collect 1x Furnace

To craft a Furnace, you will need either 8x Cobblestone, Blackstone, or Cobbled Deepslate. Cobblestone is the easiest one since you just need to use a Wooden Pickaxe and mine some Stone blocks.

Cobbled Deepslate is another variation of Cobblestone, which you can get by mining Deepslate with a non-Silk Touch pickaxe.

Blackstone is just like Cobblestone but it can only be found in the Nether dimension. Especially in the Basalt Deltas biome.

When you have 8x of any stone blocks above, right-click the Crafting Table and put them in the crafting grids, leave the middle grid empty to craft 1x Furnace.

Step 4: Finish off Crafting a Smoker

When you have everything ready, right-click on a Crafting Table and put the Furnace in the middle grid, then surround it with a 4x wood type of your choice to craft a 1x Smoker.
