In the world of Genshin Impact, a fresh leak has shed light on the anticipated arrival of a character named Wriothesley—rumored to make his debut in the region of Fontaine.
The Arrival of Wriothesley
The Genshin Impact community has been abuzz with whispers of Wriothesley, a character whose name has been floating around for the past few months. As the narrative arc of Sumeru draws to a close, players are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of a new major region—Fontaine is confirmed to be the next destination.
Since its launch in 2020, the game’s developer, HoYoverse, has maintained a consistent rhythm—introducing a new major region annually. If the pattern holds true—and there’s no reason to believe it won’t—players can look forward to Fontaine’s grand reveal around mid-August.
The introduction of a new region is always a significant event, as it invariably brings a host of new characters into the mix.
A Glimpse of the New Character
A recent post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit has given fans a sneak peek at Wriothesley’s character model. While there’s no official word on his exact release date, it’s reasonable to infer that he won’t be part of Version 3.8—given HoYoverse’s silence on new character announcements in recent weeks.
The leaked model of Wriothesley has drawn comparisons to Sampo Koski, a beloved character from HoYoverse’s second most popular title, Honkai: Star Rail. It’s worth noting that several characters in Genshin Impact have been influenced by the Honkai universe.
Speculations and Expectations
Despite the circulating rumors suggesting Wriothesley be a Cryo user, the new model has led many fans to speculate that he might be a Pyro character. Information regarding his rarity is scarce, but hopes are high for him to be a new five-star character. Interestingly, Wriothesley was absent from a recent leak that unveiled 10 new characters set to debut with Fontaine.
However, given the frequency of his name being dropped by reliable leakers, it’s highly probable that he will be added to the roster ahead of most of these characters.
Some fans are even speculating that he might be one of the three characters featured in the first Fontaine update—similar to the initial Sumeru update, where Genshin Impact version 4.0 introduced one five-star and two four-star characters.
The New Faces of Fontaine
Two characters, Lyney and Lynette, were teased in one of the game’s earliest story trailers back in 2020. It’s rumored that Lyney will be a new five-star Pyro user, while Lynette is expected to have a lower rarity.
Genshin Impact continues to captivate players on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch port currently under development. As we await the arrival of Wriothesley and the unveiling of Fontaine, the anticipation within the Genshin Impact community is palpable.
