Just about any headset will not necessarily cut it as a gaming headset for your Xbox Series X. True that there is nothing new about the audio drivers on the Series X. So, you won’t get a better audio experience from this new Xbox than the Xbox One. Unless you have a gaming headset that is custom-tuned for the ultimate gaming experience.

Getting the best gaming headset for Xbox Series X is all about –

    • Budget
    • Audio quality and comfort
    • Xbox Wireless compatibility
    • Additional Bluetooth connectivity

We have compiled a list of the best Xbox Series X headsets based on just these. And we are sure you will find the headset you were looking for right here!

    Must Read:

    • Must Have Xbox Series X Accessories

Best Gaming Headsets for Xbox Series X

    7. Alienware 7.1

Best Wired Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X

    Alienware 7.1

    Check it Out Here!

The Alienware 7.1 looks great out-of-the-box and has notched up excellent reviews as a multi-platform gaming headset. This is an Xbox Series X compatible headset via USB so no Xbox Wireless here and you have to rely on the USB.

Instead, you get excellent 7.1 surround sound for starters. Note that this is a standard audio output metric for almost all the gaming headsets we have reviewed here.

Coming back to this gaming headset, it comes with custom-tuned audio drivers for premium sound outputs. Make the best of the Alienware command centre, the software you need to personalize your gaming headset (get it here) and it does punch well above its weight.

This is rated as one of the most comfortable gaming headsets around. The headset cushions are expertly crafted to provide long hours of gaming without complaints and, as far as user reviews go, it does.

For under $100, you do get a lot of bang for the bucks. For a wireless option with even better audio quality, you can check out this Alienware Aw988 compatible with Xbox Series X.

    Pros

    • Custom audio quality
    • Comfort for long hours
    • Value-for-money

    Cons

    • Wired
    • Not a snug fit

    6. Razer Kraken Tournament Edition

Best Budget Wired Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X

    Razer Kraken Tournament Edition

    Check it Out Here!

Razer’s popularity does have a lot to do with the range of niche gaming products, starting from budget gaming accessories to the Razer Blade Pro 17 gaming laptop. This Razer Kraken Tournament Edition is a budget gaming headset, but it is manufactured for Xbox Series X.

It does look the part with the unmistakable Xbox green shades. The Kraken is capable of 7.1 surround sound although you will need the Razer Synapse 3 software helping out. Get the most out of it with the software and enjoy THX Spatial Audio. Check out this detailed guide.

As for comfort, Razer has stuck to the general headset design. It is comfortable for long hours but perhaps not as the Alienware headset reviewed above.

That is justified though by the price tag. You can get this Razer Kraken for under $55 if you hurry. Just why it makes this list!

    Pros

    • Budget buy
    • Simple design
    • THX Spatial audio capabilities

    Cons

    • Below-far comfort
    • Dependency on Razer Synapse 3

So far, we have tried to stick to your budget. There are cheaper gaming headsets around but none of them is for Xbox Series X. You can consider the HyperX CloudX Stinger, an officially licensed Xbox Series X wired gaming headset, priced around $40.

    Check Price

Now, we will check out wireless headsets compatible with Xbox Series X. Gaming becomes a lot easier once you go wireless. If you have a 4K gaming display, the last thing you would want is to sit right in front of it for long hours. Wireless headsets offer the freedom you wanted, and there’s no pesky USB cable either. If you ask us, up next are the best headsets for Xbox Series X.

    5. LucidSound LS35X

Best Officially Licensed Xbox Series X Gaming Headset

    LucidSound LS35X

    Check it Out Here!

If this is your first choice Xbox Series X headset, we won’t be surprised. This LucidSound LS35X is not a budget buy, unlike the previous ones. However, it does come with Xbox Wireless so you can play on your Xbox without a USB wire. It also has USB compatibility making it nearly just as useful on other platforms as well. No Bluetooth though.

The most plausible reason why you should buy this gaming headset is its audio quality. Easily up there with the best in its price range, this LS35X delivers superb surround sound, rivalled only by the Turtle Beaches and a top-of-the-line Razer up next. You get a dual-mic feature as well – undo the boom mic and there’s an internal mic available for mobile usage.

Comfort is at par with expectations as per user reviews. This is a snug fit with the earpads using memory foam all the way. It’s lightweight too, a vital comfort pointer often overlooked although heavy headsets can take a toll after some hours.

Priced just above $160, the LucidSound LS35X does tick quite a few boxes, especially when it comes to audio quality. This is an officially licensed product as well!

    Pros

    • Xbox Wireless
    • Immersive audio quality
    • Dual Mic
    • 15 Hours wireless gameplay

    Cons

    • No Bluetooth
    • Low on price-to-performance

    4. Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2

Budget Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox Series X

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2

    Check it Out Here!

You might be surprised to see Turtle Beach only making it to the 4th spot. True that Turtle Beach did burst onto the scene with excellent Xbox compatible headsets. The competition has upped the ante though, and they are no longer the best choice. That said, this Turtle Beach 600 Gen 2, as well as the 700 Gen 2, are among the best headsets for Xbox Series X even now.

Firstly, this is a budget gaming headset. It is not officially licensed but you can use an Xbox One headset with Xbox Series X as it’s the same Xbox Wireless connectivity on both. However, as a budget headset, this is the best you can get for the price.

Surround sound is excellently delivered and their patented Superhuman Hearing tech does work. This headset is more about utility than excellent audio performance although it does perform well there too with its 50 mm audio drivers. Audio outputs are loud, crisp, and well-amplified.

Utility is the major USP with Turtle Beach. The Flip-to-Mute mic works great as a mic and even better with the flipped-in function, smartly tucking into the headphone body. This is also one of the very few headsets around that cares for gamers with glasses. Earpads are gently foam just where the glasses run through, especially useful to avoid headaches.

As for comfort, the ear cushions are a tad over-sized but that is a welcome design. Turtle Beaches were always tight fits and this one is no different.

It’s the pricing where this Turtle Beach 600 Gen 2 beats the competition. For under $100, you get a gaming headset that will work perfectly with your brand new Xbox Series X and deliver enough performance as well as utility. We still recommend Turtle Beach!

Make sure to get the firmware update if you do buy a Turtle Beach!

    Pros

    • Unbeatable Value-for-Money
    • Utilitarian
    • Great fit for all sizes

    Cons

    • Below-par audio quality
    • Mic monitoring can get troublesome

    3. Razer Kaira Pro

Best Budget Xbox Series X Gaming Headset

    Razer Kaira Pro

    Check it Out Here!

Getting the ranking right for the top 3 was the hardest part. All 3 of these headsets are custom manufactured for Xbox gaming. But we will pin this Razer Kaira Pro to no.3 on our list for obvious reasons. But first up, let’s look at why it is in the top 3.

Connectivity options include both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 so you can use this headset with any compatible device, including your Xbox Series X of course.

Audio hardware is top-of-the-line, as expected from a mid-to-high ranging Xbox headset. The headphones come with Razer’s TriForce Titanium 50 mm drivers. Audio outputs score exceptionally high on clarity and variety.

This is also one of the only gaming headsets to come with a cardioid mic, along with Razer’s HyperClear moniker in this case. It’s a dual-mic setup as well – detach the mic boom and you can use the internal mic as well.

Comfort is top-of-the-line, this is rated among the easiest Xbox gaming headsets to wear.

However, you need to get the firmware update done and tinker around with the EQ settings to enjoy the Razer Kaira Pro. Even after that, audio quality is just not at par with the best, especially if you are someone who wants the detailed treble and the bass oomph (which you should expect for the price!)

Other than that, for around $150, the Razer Kaira Pro is one of the best headsets for Xbox Series X. If this is your budget and if you are not willing to get the best, Razer Kaira Pro should be your first choice.

    Pros

    • Excellent Mic Setup
    • Ultra-Comfortable
    • Bluetooth 5.0
    • Great design

    Cons

    • Not the best audio
    • Lacks premium feel

    2. SteelSeries Arctis 9X

Best Versatile Xbox Series X Gaming Headset

    SteelSeries Arctis 9X

    Check it Out Here!

SteelSeries and Turtle Beach are at it for some time now, vying for the coveted no.1 spot when it comes to gaming headsets for Xbox players. With the Arctis 9X though, SteelSeries has targeted the higher end of the segment, and this is a game-changer.

It does deserve the top spot without any doubt. There’s a reason why this is one of the most popularly recommended Xbox Series X compatible headsets. Audio outputs are outstanding and perfectly detailed. This is a highly tuned headset to help you catch critical in-game audio that will give you a gaming advantage.

You get Xbox Wireless compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity. The cherry on top is that you can use both these simultaneously.

Another top-end addition is the Clearcast microphone, easily one of the best mics on any Xbox gaming headset. It’s a bidirectional mic as well helping in targeted noise cancellation.

The SteelSeries Arctis 9X is a premium headset and the design suggests just that. Superiorly comfortable earpads and a metal frame added, this headphone looks the part and is built to last.

Battery life is best-in-class as well, up to 20 hours, which is miles ahead of the 15 hours average for most gaming headsets you can buy today.

Priced around $200, the SteelSeries Arctis 9X is the best headset for Xbox Series X but it does have a lot of extra features, e.g. – Bluetooth connectivity and mixing capabilities, that add to the price tag.

Just so, this is not our first choice when it comes to pure Xbox gaming.

    Pros

    • Unbelievably detailed soundscape
    • Excellent design
    • Add-on Bluetooth connectivity
    • Audio mixing capabilities
    • Best-in-Class Mic
    • Best-in-Class Battery Life

    Cons

    • Inconsistent audio outputs
    • Xbox Wireless connectivity issues

    1. Astro A50 Wireless

Overall Best Xbox Series Gaming Headset in 2021

    Astro A50 Wireless

    Check it Out Here!

Without a doubt, this is the best headset for Xbox Series X you can buy now. Astro A50s are a top choice for pro gamers, and there’re plenty of reasons why.

Gaming headsets are supposed to deliver tuned audio outputs, customized for the optimal gaming experience. Astro A50 and Xbox Series X are a match made in gaming heaven. This is the benchmark in gaming audio. This headphone gets the best out of Dolby Atmos and surround sound along with excellent amplified soundscapes, necessary for gaming competitively.

    There’s more:

Just like the SteelSeries Arctis 9X, this headset allows mixing in-game and chat audio. However, this Astro A50 does it a lot better, delivering on true mixing instead of overlaying soundscapes. It comes with a standard Flip-to-Mute mic with excellent noise cancellation.

In case you want it to sound better, just make sure to download the Astro Command Center for fine-tuning. This headset is perhaps the most adaptable headset you can come across.

Comfort is top-of-the-range as well as per user reviews. The earpads come with breathable mesh up top and memory foam inside. This headset is designed to be a snug fit. It’s lightweight as well despite providing more than 15 hours of battery life.

In short, few headphones can beat this on any single feature other than battery life. Astro A50 is the ultimate Xbox Series X compatible gaming headset hands down.

Priced at around $300 for the headset and the charging base, this is the deal we recommend. Get both and you essentially have your Xbox gaming sessions all sorted out already!

    Check Price

    Conclusion

The Xbox Series X was launched at $499.99 and it is arguably twice as powerful as the previous Xbox, so we do recommend investing in a new Xbox. Once that’s done, all you need is a proper gaming headset.

We have reviewed the best headsets for Xbox Series X already within a budget range of $40 to $300. Pretty sure we have covered every possible budget you may have. Go ahead. Buy a new headset for your new Xbox. If you have any of the above headsets though, get a better one!

    FAQs

    1. Will the Astro A50 work on Xbox Series X?

The Astro A50 is available as PlayStation and Xbox compatible versions. The Astro A50 Xbox version is completely compatible with the new Xbox Series X given that this new console comes with the same Xbox Wireless as previous Xboxes.

    2. Will Xbox One headsets work with Xbox Series X?

All headsets that work with Xbox One should work with Xbox Series X too. Wireless Xbox headsets use Xbox Wireless connectivity, similar to Bluetooth, to play audio from your Xbox without any USB. Wired headsets will connect via USB to any compatible device, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

    3. How to connect my headset to Xbox Series X?

If it’s a wired headset, all you need to do is plug it in via any one of the 2 USB ports available on the Xbox Series X. In case it’s wireless, make sure Xbox Wireless connectivity is turned on with your headset. Some headsets may require a firmware update to perform optimally so make sure to get that done before ordering for a replacement!
