If you love building underwater, or just mining in flooded caves in the Minecraft 1.18 update, it’s kinda annoying because of how slow it’s to mine a block underwater, right?
Well, let’s introduce you to this awesome enchantment called “Aqua Affinity”!
What Does Aqua Affinity Do in Minecraft?
Aqua Affinity is an old Minecraft enchantment that can help speed up your mining speed underwater. That’s it!
Only one level with this unique feature, the enchantment became more and more popular when the Minecraft 1.13 aquatic update was released.
How Long Does it Take to Break a Block Underwater with Aqua Affinity?
Normally, it takes 5x longer time to mine a block underwater. With Aqua Affinity on, this time is equal to when you’re on the ground.
So you can just instantly mine all the stone blocks underwater with this enchantment!
Which Tools/Armors Can You Add Aqua Affinity To?
You can add the Aqua Affinity enchantment to the helmet and the turtle shell. Then the effect is only applied if you wear a helmet on your head slot, not just by placing it in the inventory.
You can also add enchantment to a book. You can combine the enchantment from the book with a Helmet later or just sell it for some minerals.
Is there an Aqua Affinity 2?
The enchantment only has one level. So hopefully in the future, Mojang will update more and give it more features, and allow you to work more flexibly underwater.
Which Other Enchantments Can You Add With Aqua Affinity?
You can literally add any armor enchantments together with Aqua Affinity since there is no mutually exclusive effect between them.
Some examples are an Aqua Affinity helmet with Unbreaking, Respiration, Protection, Thorns, Mending,… you guessed it!
