Looking at the popularity of Roblox and how fresh and new it feels, it’s hard to believe that the game has been around since 2006.
Although it didn’t have the best of starts, Roblox is nothing short of iconic now. Every collaboration, every big release, in short, everything connected to Roblox attracts the humongous community.
But nothing will be as iconic as the Roblox logo. People are obsessed with the beautiful logo. Every gamer from any demographic will instantly recognize the logo, even if they don’t play Roblox.
But very few people are aware of the Roblox logo’s history.
So, we decided to write up a Roblox logo trivia!
And if you’d like to see all Roblox logos that the company has used so far, you’ve landed on the right blog.
We’ll tell you everything about the evolution of the Roblox name and logo.
So, let’s get started.
Roblox Logo – The Beginnings
It’s no secret that Roblox was not an instant success. Up until the late 2010s, Roblox did not have the high number of active players it does now.
And after a helping hand from the COVID pandemic, Roblox finally got the big break.
Now, millions of players from all over the world dive into this free-to-play virtual world on a daily basis.
But out of those millions, very few will know that although the game came out in 2006, the company was already up and running under a different name and a different logo.
In 2004, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel founded the company that we now know as the Roblox Corporation. 2 years on and they released Roblox. But very few people know that Roblox was nearly named something else.
DynaBlocks and GoBlocks were the two names in consideration before they settled on Roblox. DynaBlocks even got a logo.
But, Roblox won in the end, and it’s safe to say that everyone is better for it.
So, in 2004, we got to see the official Roblox (Beta) logo for the first time. Sure now seems outdated, but back then it was outdated too. It’s not a good logo.
Almost feels like a Google rip-off.
Thankfully, this didn’t hang around much longer either. And so began the evolution.
Roblox Logo – The Evolution (2004-2006)
Mid 2004, Roblox’s old logo got binned, and we were treated to a bolder and wilder logo. This one had fewer colors, a more stylish font, and showed that Roblox meant business.
Even now, many would appreciate this Roblox logo for its sheer retro-ness. It looks like something straight out of an arcade game.
This was the first logo to be showcased on the official website. So, this logo is kind of a big deal.
But, the very next year, the logo got another revamp. The style was very similar, the colors and the in-your-face out lines stayed the same, but the font made a lot of difference.
The all-caps logo was somehow the same and different. And this logo made its way to the Roblox t-shirts as well.
From 2005 to 2008, this was the official Roblox logo as far as clothing merchandise was concerned.
Roblox Logo – The Lazy Period (2006-2017)
In 2006, when Roblox finally hit the market, the logo got another make-over. And dare we say, this was the best one yet.
The unconventional design and the quirky fonts were clearly an attempt to attract a younger audience. And although it didn’t bring much success to the game, the logo did stick around for nearly 4 years.
Then, in 2010, the logo got a small touch-up, but it seemed like a major change.
The designer added outlines to the text and darkened the red color. Doesn’t seem much, does it? But take a look at the result.
The 3D effect and the darker color modernized the logo to indicate the changes being made in-game.
At this time, the logo, as well as the game, were at their best. But for some reason, the company decided to go back to the 2006 version. The font was flattened once again, and the lighter red came back as well.
So, for 2 years, from 2015 to 2017, Roblox re-used an older logo. Official websites, merch, sister companies, and the game itself- everyone was rocking this throwback Roblox logo.
Then came the 3rd major design change.
Roblox Logo – The Present
After rocking the old school logo for 2 years, the Roblox logo got the biggest change in 2017. It brought the Roblox logo that all of us know all too well. The blocky font with small cutouts, dark red coloring, and the tilted “O” just looks right.
Co-founder and CEO David Baszucki said, “this logo is a testament to our cross-platform vision, as well as our commitment to helping power the imagination of kids of all ages around the world.”

There’s also a black iteration of this logo. But, it has very little official use.
There are white and silver versions as well which can be seen all over the internet. But the official one is still the red Roblox logo.
We would say that it’s about time for a new Roblox logo. But seeing the major changes they are bringing to the game, we don’t think they’ll be touching the logo anytime soon.
And frankly, the massive audience hooked to Roblox doesn’t pay much attention to the logo.
