Famous YouTube personality Colleen Ballinger, renowned for her Miranda Sings character, is encountering significant backlash after numerous former fans disclosed allegations of grooming and inappropriate behavior.
The wave of accusations has caused Ballinger, aged 36, to lose sponsorships.
Two companies that had sponsored ads on Ballinger’s podcast, RELAX! with Colleen Ballinger & Erik Stocklin, have since withdrawn their financial support, as reported by TMZ.
Sponsors Sever Ties
Skin care company OneSkin was among the sponsors severing ties with the YouTube sensation.
They explained their decision, stating, “We were made aware of this previously and have decided to cease the relationship completely.
This behavior is appalling, and we do not condone or support it in any form.”
Zocdoc, a telemedicine company, also terminated its partnership with Ballinger in response to the ongoing scandal.
Accusations of Grooming and Inappropriate Behavior
Ballinger, who enjoys a massive following on YouTube, recently faced serious accusations when former fan Adam McIntyre claimed that she had groomed and intimidated underage fans.
McIntyre, in a series of videos published on YouTube and other social media platforms, spoke about his unsettling and toxic friendship with Ballinger, who was then in her early thirties.
Following McIntyre’s disclosure, a number of other individuals came forward with their own experiences of Ballinger’s inappropriate behavior.
TikToker ‘noitsbecky’ Alleges Humiliation
TikToker ‘noitsbecky’, real name Becky, came forward with allegations that Ballinger exploited and humiliated minors for entertainment during her performances, herself included.
Becky described an incident during one of Ballinger’s shows where she was invited on stage as part of the act.
The ‘yoga challenge’, as it was dubbed, involved Ballinger, acting as her alter ego Miranda, manipulating Becky’s body for the amusement of the audience.
In a particularly distressing segment of the show, Ballinger was seen spreading the then-teenage Becky’s legs so far apart that her spandex became visible to the audience.
Becky expressed her discomfort, stating, “I was terrified that my body wasn’t covered enough…I basically felt naked.”
Awaiting Response from Ballinger
In the wake of these allegations, Colleen Ballinger has yet to publicly address or respond to any of the claims made against her.
As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen what further impact it will have on her career and sponsorships.
