How to tame a Panda in Minecraft
Follow these steps and you, too, can have your very own furry panda pal in Minecraft!
Step 1: Find a Panda
Naturally, the first thing you have to do before you can tame a panda is to find one! Pandas appear in two biomes: Jungle and Bamboo Jungle. Hopefully, you can find one nearby.
If not, we recommend looking for a Bamboo Jungle, as the Jungle biome can be hard to find. Another plus to the Bamboo Jungle is that you can find Bamboo there, which is a food you’ll need to tame pandas.
Pandas have different temperaments, ranging from aggressive to lazy. Lazy pandas are ideal for taming since they’re much easier to approach. You can identify a lazy panda by their activities; they’re usually found lounging about, playing, and rolling around.
Pandas typically spawn in pairs, so you can tame more than one panda at a time. You can even tame both and breed them for an endless supply of cuteness.
Step 2: Find Panda Food
Bamboo is the most common food used for taming pandas. As mentioned above, if you’re already in a Bamboo Jungle, you’ll find bamboo everywhere. Grab as much Bamboo as you can; you’ll need it to tame the panda.
You can also use cake to tame pandas, but we don’t recommend it because it requires a lot of ingredients to make. To make a cake, you’ll need 3 Milk Buckets, 2 Sugar, 1 Egg, and 3 Wheat.
Step 3: Feed the Panda
Now comes the fun part: feeding the panda. Pull out your Bamboo or Cake and approach the panda. Now click to feed the panda the food.
Take care not to accidentally attack the panda! Some pandas will hit you right back, and they can do a fair bit of damage.
Keep feeding the panda until a heart sign appears above its head. It likes you! Now, keep some panda food in hand and it will follow you wherever you go.
Don’t walk too quickly, though. If you move more than 16 blocks away from the panda, it will stop following you. We recommend building some sort of cage for the panda to keep it from wandering away.
