Anvil is the only block in Minecraft that allows the player to rename or repair any items for the cost of some levels. You can also use the Anvil to combine any enchantment books to a higher level.
In this guide, we will show you how to make Anvil in Minecraft.
What You Need to Craft Anvil
- 1x Crafting Table
- 1x Furnace
- 3x Block of Iron
- 4x Iron Ingot
Collect 1x Crafting Table and Furnace
Anvil will require a 3×3 crafting grid so getting a Crafting Table is needed. You can find any trees and chop them down for Logs. Trees can be chopped fastest by using an Axe.
When you have some Logs, press E to open the inventory and put your Log into the crafting grid to craft Planks. Each Log yields 4x Planks.
With 4x Planks, put them in the crafting grid again in a 2×2 shape to craft 1x Crafting Table. Move the Crafting Table in your hot bar and place it down outside the world.
Next, you need to craft a Pickaxe to mine some Cobblestones. Right-click the Crafting Table and put 2x Planks in a column to craft 4x Stick.
Then you need to put 3x Planks in the top line, and 2x Stick in the middle column to craft 1x Wooden Pickaxe.
Now you just need to dig down a little bit or find a cave nearby, you will see Stone located right below. Use the Wooden Pickaxe to mine at least 8x Stone. They will drop 8x Cobblestone instead.
Return to your Crafting Table and right-click it, place 8x Cobblestone, and leave the middle slot empty to craft 1x Furnace. Now you’ve done the first step!
Collect 4x Iron Ingot and 3x Block of Iron
There are many ways to get Iron Ingot but either they are not safe, or just time-consuming. That’s why we will show you the best way to get Iron Ingot in Minecraft!
First, you need to find some Iron Ores, or at least 31x Iron Ores. They are the common ore that is usually generated at layers 15 and 232 of the y-axis. You can either climb mountains or go into any caves to find Iron Ores.
When you have found them, just use your Wooden Pickaxe to mine. It will drop 1x Raw Iron for each Iron Ore. Try to mine at least 31x Iron Ores.
When you have enough Raw Iron, place the Furnace down and right-click on it. Then place the Raw Iron in the top slot, and place any fuel item in the bottom slot to start smelting Raw Iron. Fuel items are coal, charcoal, wood, stick,…
Let’s wait for a little bit and your Raw Iron should be cooked into Iron Ingot. You should have 31x of them.
Now right-click the Crafting Table and fill all 9 slots with Iron Ingot to craft 3x Block of Iron. You should have 4x Iron Ingot left in your inventory.
Now you’re ready to craft an Anvil in Minecraft!
Finish off Crafting an Anvil
When you have 3x Block of Iron and 4x Iron Ingot in your inventory, right-click the Crafting Table to open the crafting GUI.
Then place 3x Block of Iron in the top line, then place 3x Iron Ingot in the bottom line, and put the final Iron Ingot in the middle slot to craft 1x Anvil.
Congratulation on your Anvil! Now let’s place it down near your blacksmith building and start repairing your items!
