A recent leak from Genshin Impact has given fans a sneak peek at the gameplay animations of the upcoming five-star character, Lyney.
Officially announced on the game’s social media accounts, Lyney is set to debut in the much-anticipated 4.0 update, which will also introduce the new Fontaine region.
Lyney’s Introduction to Genshin Impact
Before each new update, Genshin Impact releases a beta version that includes most of the upcoming content, including new regions, characters, and weapons. Recent leaks from the beta version suggest that the 4.0 update will be one of the most substantial updates in the game’s history.
A post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit has revealed in-game animations of Lyney, an upcoming five-star unit. His official splash art had previously disclosed that he would be a new Pyro user, and the gameplay leak confirmed rumors about him being a bow user. Fans have appreciated HoYoverse’s decision to incorporate Lyney’s love for magic into his kit.
For instance, his Normal Attack sequence includes him spawning a card before firing his last shot. However, some players have expressed dissatisfaction that HoYoverse reserves the best Normal Attack animations for characters whose kit does not primarily focus on this attack type.
Lyney’s Gameplay Mechanics
Previous leaks have indicated that Lyney is a DPS character with a playstyle that relies on using the Charged Attack. Lyney’s Charged Attack has two levels, determined by the charging time. The first level fires a regular charged arrow that deals elemental damage to a target. Level 2 creates a Grin-Malkin Hat when an opponent is hit, which taunts nearby enemies and allows Lyney to reposition himself.
When the hat explodes, it deals Pyro damage to a nearby enemy. Lyney’s Level 2 Charged Attack also causes him to sacrifice some of his HP to obtain one Prop Surplus stack. The video confirms that Lyney’s Elemental Skill triggers an instant explosion, clearing all Prop Surplus stacks and dealing large amounts of AoE damage that scales with the number of stacks and his ATK.
This suggests that Lyney’s playstyle might require players to use his Charged Attack to apply multiple Prop Surplus stacks before using his Elemental Skill. Many fans have commented that Lyney has one of the best burst animations in Genshin Impact, transforming him into a Grin-Malkin Cat that bounces and deals AoE Pyro damage.
Stay tuned for their upcoming debut together with Lynette as well!
