Genshin Impact, the popular action RPG from developer HoYoverse, is set to introduce a new region in its upcoming major update.
The region, known as Fontaine, has been the subject of a recent leak that reveals intriguing details about its design and structure.
A Sneak Peek into Fontaine
Fontaine, the Hydro nation, is the next major region to be unveiled in the world of Teyvat. As the game’s narrative progresses, players have been eagerly anticipating the introduction of this new region.
A recent leak from a reliable Genshin Impact insider, HutaoLover77, has shed some light on what players can expect from Fontaine.
According to the leak, Fontaine will feature a unique twin-city structure, a departure from the single-city design seen in the existing regions of Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru.
These two cities, inspired by the European capitals of London and Paris, are said to be in conflict with each other. This intriguing setup is sure to add a new layer of complexity to the game’s world-building and narrative.
Steampunk and Technology: The Themes of Fontaine
The design of the two cities in Fontaine will reportedly draw on the themes of steampunk and technology. This aligns with Genshin Impact’s tradition of basing each region on real-world locations and cultural influences.
The introduction of these themes is likely to bring a fresh aesthetic and atmosphere to the game.
The leak also suggests that the first update for Fontaine will introduce a sibling duo, Lyney and Lynette, who were first teased in a story trailer in 2020. Lyney, a five-star Pyro character, is expected to serve as a main DPS, while Lynette, a four-star Anemo character, will likely offer support. Another four-star character is also rumored to debut in the same update.
In addition to new characters, the leak hints at a new diving mechanic, which was teased during the recent Special Program event for Genshin Impact version 3.7.
Anticipating Fontaine’s Arrival
While HoYoverse has yet to confirm the official release date for Fontaine, the pattern of previous region releases suggests that players can look forward to exploring Fontaine in the latter half of August.
With its unique twin city structure, new characters, and fresh mechanics, Fontaine is set to bring a wave of new content and experiences to Genshin Impact players.
