Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has returned to screens for its highly anticipated Season 3, which premiered in the Spring of 2023. Fans were eagerly waiting for the anime’s latest installment, and it did not disappoint as the first episode, titled Swordsmith Village Arc, introduced viewers to the top-ranked demon in Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks, Kokushibo.
Muzan’s upper ranked members introduced
The anime began with a gathering of Muzan’s remaining Upper Rank members at Infinity Castle, where Muzan updated them on the defeat of Gyutaro, the first Upper Rank member to be defeated in over a century.
The scene also showed the members’ dynamic and interaction with each other, with Kokushibo emerging as the strongest among them.
Not only does Kokushibo resemble someone with a connection to the Kamado family’s past, but he also commands great power and fear compared to other demons in Muzan’s army.
With the rest of the Upper Rank members assembled, the new season’s episodes are set to take on an even darker turn as they make their move, posing a significant threat to Tanjiro Kamado and his allies.
Demon Slayer Season 3: Who Is Kokushibo?
Kokushibo’s debut in the first episode of Season 3 has left fans eager to learn more about the top-ranked demon.
With his resemblance to someone from the Kamado family’s past, viewers are excited to see how his story arc will develop in the coming episodes.
While it is unclear how much screen time he will get, his appearance in the show marks a significant shift in the storyline, and his power makes him a formidable foe for Tanjiro and his companions.
Demon Slayer Season 3 Introduces the Original Sun Breather
Demon Slayer Season 3 has also revealed our official best look yet at the original Sun Breather, the man who inspired the entire system of breathing styles that give the Demon Slayer warriors their power.
The anime has long teased this pivotal figure, and now, in Season 3, we are starting to learn more about him.
In the Swordsmith Village Arc, Tanjiro Kamado is recovering from his injuries after his fight with Upper Ranks Six demon Gyutaro and his sister Daki in the Entertainment District Arc.
During his slumber, Tanjiro has a vision passed down from one of his ancestors, who kept company with the Original Sun Breathing user.
In a surprise twist, Tanjiro meets Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, who is accompanied by someone who looks exactly like the vision of the Original Sun Breather that Tanjiro saw in his dream.
The scene provides the most direct tie to the Kamado family’s past and the Sun Breathing style Shinjuro Rengoku spoke of in the Mugen Train Arc.
Demon Slayer Season 3 is currently streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll, and the synopsis teases a new location, the Swordsmith Village, where Tanjiro reunites with two Hashira, Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji.
With demons lurking nearby, a new battle begins for Tanjiro and his comrades.
