Is the new Avatar game coming out in 2023?
It is. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora release date is confirmed for 7th December 2023.
For a game of this supposed magnitude, it’s rare for a studio (Massive Entertainment) to announce in June and release in the same year.
Expectations are high.
It’s Avatar. The gameplay trailer looks great. Here’s every bit of official (and insider) info on Avatar Frontiers of Pandora there is so far.
The Avatar Game
The Official Game Overview trailer was the shortest Avatar movie yet, screened on Ubisoft Forward back in July. The release date was confirmed right then. Looks like we’ll be sticking to it but Ubisoft can bring it in earlier late November like they did with AC Mirage.
We’ve had 2 Avatar movies that have pushed the bar higher for cinematic immersion. That’s a hard one to deliver as a game. Massive Entertainment, a Ubisoft gaming studio by the way, seems the best choice for the vibrant lively gaming environment that Pandora oh so demands.
We are expecting a massive AAA title. James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment has actively taken part in creating the game. No wonder.
So will the new Avatar game be the next giant leap in immersive gaming? Or was that supposed to be Starfield?
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora: A Sneak Peek
You can get the basics of what’s in the game just from the Official Trailer and this World Premier Trailer.
Everyone would want to play the Na’vi and that’s how it is.
We’ll get a look at a new Pandora, the Western Frontier. It will be a canon to the movies, but unlike them in both the world and the storyline.
Predictably the story is about protecting Pandora. We’re confirmed to get to fly ikrans so aerial combat’s in.
The game’s projected as a first-person action-adventure in an open-world setting. With character creation, skill progression, crafting also confirmed as gameplay elements, you might just append RPG to that.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is everything that you or I would want it to be.
We might just get to learn to speak Na’vi too.
But that’s not the biggest gameplay feature.
Will the new Avatar game be Multiplayer?
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will have single-player and multiplayer modes. Avatar multiplayer will be a 2-player online co-op. Developers Massive have proven expertise in online co-op and we will get it for sure!
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Platforms
That’s the Official Story Trailer released a couple of weeks ago.
The game will be expansive and demanding. Chances are backward compatibility won’t cut it and won’t be there at all even though Ubisoft’s always been a giver.

Other than Amazon Luna, we’re sure to get Xbox Cloud Gaming too.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will not be on Steam or Xbox Game Pass. Why?
Ubisoft is going big with Ubisoft+, their very own gaming subscription network and they do have enough games to pull that off.
Since Avatar Pandora will be on Ubisoft+ from the launch date, you’ll need to purchase editions to play without the subscription.
This might come as bad news for PlayStation gamers. Ubisoft+ only caters to a limited run of games (Classics only) for PlayStation. Xbox gets a few more selections but not the whole catalog.
But there are chances of Avatar Pandora making it to Xbox X/S and maybe even PS5 right through Ubisoft+. Or maybe not. Perhaps that’s why PS5 players will get a dedicated skin with compliments from Ubisoft.
The subscription comes with a 7-day free trial, for now. Will Ubisoft keep it that way on 7th December? Gotta wait and watch on that.
Will Avatar Frontiers of Pandora be Cross Platform?
The game will support crossplay as it will come with a dedicated 2-player co-op mode. But whether it will be natively cross-platform is not confirmed. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will majorly rely on Ubisoft+ and game distributions while staying away from Steam or Game Pass. So it’s safe to say that Ubisoft may be positioning the game strongly for their subscription or at least their dedicated servers for online play. With Steam and Game Pass out of the way, cross platform seems likely but only through the subscription service which makes it cross play compatible but not natively via Game Pass on Xbox or on the PS library.
Will Avatar Frontiers of Pandora be Free?
The game will not be free-to-play and accessible via digital/physical edition purchases or Ubisoft+ subscription. This is a AAA title so expecting to be free-to-play would put it in the same bracket as the new Counter-Strike.
PC System Requirements
Frontiers of Pandora will have both FSR 2 and DLSS support. This means the game’s heavy but it will work on mid-spec rigs if need be.
The range of graphics immersion will be huge. If you have a good setup, you’ll get to run it on full ray tracing and more.
It will even have an internal PC benchmarking tool to help you set the best possible settings.
Minimum system requirements would be something like this –
- CPU – i5-2500k / AMD FX 6300
- RAM – 8 GB
- GFX – GeForce GTX 780 / Radeon R9 280X
Any better and you can probably run 30fps+ with low-to-mid settings. Sounds great for a lot of us!

Collector’s Editions for Xbox are out of stock on the official Ubisoft page but you can get your hands on one from GameStop for now.
In case you find retailers or buyers giving it away for more, don’t forget to report to Ubisoft. (You might find a Collector’s Edition tagged $500 on eBay.)
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Pre Order Bonus
The pre-order bonus is not much. You’ll get the Child of Two Worlds pack which is cosmetic. It will include custom character wearables and weapon skin. Looks great though.
Ubisoft’s New Flagship
Just as Microsoft and Bethesda bet big with Starfield on Game Pass, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is Ubisoft’s big bet to get their cult following subscribed to Ubisoft+.
