The Egyptians and the internet love cats, and a lot of Animal Crossing fans online sure love this particular cat. Is it her Cleopatra-like aura? Is it her Snooty personality?
How about her eyeliner? Whatever the reason is, Ankha’s allure is undeniable. Bow down to Ankha as we get to know her in her Ankha villager guide!
Who is Ankha in Animal Crossing?
Ankha is a cat villager with a Snooty personality and an Egyptian theme. She was added in Animal Crossing and has been in all the games except Wild World.
Her recent appearance is in New Horizons and fans are hoping she’ll be in the next Animal Crossing game too.
Ankha’s Name
Just like her character design, both her English name and Japanese name have Egyptian themes. Her Japanese name is Nairu or Nile, and is based on the Nile River.
Meanwhile, her English name is Ankha, which is from the hieroglyphic Ankh.
Both are pretty cool names and suit her!
Ankha’s Looks
Animal Crossing is known for its unique villagers, and Ankha is definitely one of the most unique! This regal cat with a flair carries her Egyptian theme well.
Her bright yellow fur pairs well with her dark blue hair, ears, and stripes. Her eyeliner is dark blue as well, and is fashioned after the eye makeup of ancient Egyptians.
She also has a headdress similar to what Cleopatra wears in her depictions. Her hair is short with straight bangs and frames her face nicely.
Her eyes are always looking up and her mouth is in a permanent scowl – both contribute to her Snooty personality and aura. When she closes her eyes, you can see a bit of an orange eyeshadow on her eyelids.
As a cherry on top of her overall Egyptian design, Ankha wears a Palatial Tank Dress, which is an upgrade of her Mummy Shirt in New Leaf.
Ankha’s Catchphrase
Ankha says “me meow” as her catchphrase in English. The meow part suits her well because she’s a cat, and the me part shows her slightly self-centered attitude as a Snooty villager and as a royal Egyptian cat.
In Japanese, she says “kufufu” in her dialogues, and is a combination of the “ufufu” onomatopoeia laugh in Japanese and the pharaoh Khufu. Clever catchphrase!
Ankha’s Personality
As a Snooty, Ankha loves high culture. She’ll talk to you about sophisticated art, gourmet food, and vogue fashion. If you wear the same outfit in a row, she’ll even comment on it!
Because of her personality, she can be a bit rude and direct to other villagers, particularly to Smug neighbors who love to talk about what they think is high culture.
For some reason, this does not impress Ankha.
This doesn’t mean she can’t be friends with other personalities, though. When she gets into an argument with one of her neighbors, like with Jocks or Lazies, she is willing to patch things up quickly.
Ankha can get along well with most of her neighbors, like Normals, Peppies, and other Snooties.
She enjoys talking with them about spa days and dressing up, and she’s willing to give advice to Normal villagers about gaining confidence.
Ankha’s House
The exterior of her house is made to look like a pyramid! Her roof is an Orange Stone Roof, with Yellow Stucco Exterior walls, and a Purple Metal Accent Door.
A pyramid-looking house for an Egyptian-themed cat – how clever!
You’ll see more of her Egyptian theme when you step inside her house. Ankha’s house interior is absolutely decked with all things Egyptian – from her Ancient Wall and Pyramid Tile floor to her Golden Caskets and huge Pyramid!
She’s also fond of glittery gold, so she has Golden Dishes and Gold Bars. She even has a Golden Toilet! After all, you gotta give her the best throne.
Ankha’s Popularity
Ankha is one of the most popular cat villagers in the game. She’s not as big as Raymond, but she’s still pretty up there.
In one Animal Crossing community, Animal Crossing Portal, she is still considered in tier 1 based on their recent polls.
How To Get Ankha in Animal Crossing?
There are four ways to get Ankha: Campsite, Mystery Tours, Amiibo Card, or trading.
Mystery Tours will involve a lot of luck since it rolls for species first, followed by personality. There are 23 cats in New Horizons, with five Snooties. Which means after rolling for cat and Snooty, you get one out of five chances to get Ankha.
For Campsite, not having a Snooty on your island yet might help. It still involves a lot of luck and patience.
If you have her Amiibo Card, you only have to scan it and play a game with her to invite her. Trading or inviting other people’s Ankha is also easier but might need some Nook Miles Tickets or Bells.
What To Gift Ankha?
Ankha loves Gorgeous and Simple styles. Her favorite colors are also Brown and Colorful. If you’re planning on giving her clothing as gifts, some neat suggestions are Flapper Dress, Sequin Dress, and Sweet Dress.
Her birthday is on September 22, so make sure you get her something on that day!
Ankha in the DLC
Ankha says she wants to enjoy the elegance of the ancient world, so she wants you to make her vacation home an ancient oasis. Use Elegant Mirrors and Golden Dung Beetles to get her approval.
Ankha Trivia
Her pose in her Amiibo card looks like a mummy sarcophagus.
