YouTube gaming personality Ludwig shocked his fans on May 26, 2023, when he announced via Twitter that he would be holding a charity auction, parting ways with “everything he owns.”
The streamer expressed his intention to start fresh while also using the opportunity to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
From Hoarding to Auction: Ludwig’s Motivation
In a YouTube Shorts clip, Ludwig shared the backstory behind his decision to host the auction. He admitted that he had become a “major hoarder” as a result of his streaming career.
Allowing his chat to spend his money on various items had led to an accumulation of possessions he no longer needed:
“I have a major problem and I need your help. I’ve become a major hoarder after becoming a streamer. I allow my chat to spend my money to buy things, and they end up buying way too much stuff.”
Ludwig proceeded to mention a few notable items in his collection, including a life-sized Nami figure from the popular anime One Piece and a staggering $16,000 Jackie Chan statue.
He expressed his desire to give away these possessions through an auction:
“I have a damn near life-sized statue of Nami from One Piece. Way too many Pokemon cards. I have this gold plaque from YouTube that’s supposed to be special or something.
I literally have a $16,000 statue of Jackie Chan. Who needs that?! Not me. And I want to give it all away to you guys. Well… I want to auction it away.”
Raising Funds for Make-A-Wish
Ludwig’s primary goal is to raise as much money as possible for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a renowned charity that grants wishes to children with critical illnesses.
He invited his online community to participate in the auction, scheduled to take place during his livestream on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 2 pm Pacific time:
“I’m trying to raise as much money as possible for Make-A-Wish. So, I decided to auction off all of my items. And you can buy everything.
So, just show up to my stream this Sunday at 2 pm Pacific. And you can buy anything! All the proceeds go to Make-A-Wish, and let’s raise as much money as possible!”
Fans Excited and Curious
News of Ludwig’s upcoming auction quickly spread across social media, sparking excitement and curiosity among his fans.
Some even jokingly asked about the potential price tag for his beloved cat, Coots. This charity auction follows Ludwig’s previous philanthropic endeavors, including his notable stunt of trapping himself in a box during DreamHack Atlanta to raise over $300,000 for the Alveus Sanctuary and No Kid Hungry.
Ludwig’s past charity auction, held in 2022, featured items such as his silver play button, an NFL game ball signed by Tom Brady, and a trophy from Shitcamp.
The event successfully generated over $100,000 for the No Kid Hungry organization. Now, Ludwig is once again putting himself out there, auctioning off “everything” in a sincere effort to raise funds for charity.
While the full extent of the items included in the auction remains a mystery, fans eagerly anticipate the chance to own a piece of Ludwig’s history.
Whether it’s the iconic Cars bed from his famous 2021 subathon or the numerous other intriguing possessions, Ludwig’s auction promises to be a unique opportunity for fans to contribute to a worthy cause while acquiring a special memento from their favorite YouTube personality.
