Reports suggest that XBOX is currently developing its controllers with DualSense, but expect a different name for it.
When it comes to the success or failure of a console, the controller is often the deciding factor. Xbox might be trying to follow in PlayStation’s creative footsteps with a controller inspired by the PS5’s DualSense, which was well-praised upon its initial release in 2020.
DualSense makes sense for XBOX
Xbox is reported to be developing on a gamepad obviously influenced by the DualSense, as stated by Shpeshal Nick on the XboxEra podcast (via Idle Sloth). Nick disclosed that he had questioned Xbox if the current reports were related to the previous ones, which suggested that the company had developed a prototype controller with an LCD screen.
Similarly to the DualSense and the DualShock 4, “they’re internally prototyping and even testing, perhaps in-house testing, a new Xbox controller with a touchpad,” Nick said. The insider states that the prototype also contains haptics, similar to the DualSense, which they call “HD Rumble” by his source.
A feature that you can’t get your hands on, yet
Despite Nick saying that a prototype does indeed exist, he emphasizes that this is not yet a product that Xbox owners may purchase. Although, it is unlikely that this will ever be available in the market. Both he and Jeff Grubb mention called “Project Keystone,” the existence of which was verified earlier this year.
It’s a portable gadget that allows the streaming of Xbox games. However, Xbox has been unable to release it for years because of the price, but Phil Spencer has verified that it exists and is essentially complete.
The battle of controllers favored PS5
In this latest round of console rivalry, PlayStation won in the controller arena. Last year, Spencer says that the Xbox’s controller design should aim to be more like the DualSense. One can only hope it doesn’t go the way of Project Keystone.
Unfortunately, XBOX also reveals recent news that many find disappointing. To make up for their lost favors, they are ready to bring their annual Game Showcase earlier next year.
