Taylor Swift, Pink, and Lenny Kravitz were the highlights of the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards held in Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on March 27th. The award ceremony recognized the achievements of musicians in the radio play, with Pink receiving the Icon Award and Swift being honored with the Innovator Award. Other notable appearances and performances came from Latto, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Doja Cat, and more.
Kravitz opened the show by paying respects to the victims of the recent Tennessee school shooting, urging America to do better. Pink began the performances with a dramatic entrance, diving into her song Trustfall from her latest album.
During her set, she was joined by dancers called her “road crew” while other artists like Bebe Rexha, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. watched in awe. Becky G was also on hand to receive the Best Latin Pop Song award, while Doja Cat was presented with the Most Played Artist of the Year Titanium award for “Woman.”
All hail Taylor Swift
Swift’s appearance caused the entire room to scream, with the audience ranging from pre-teen boys to women in their thirties. She was presented with the Innovator Award by friend and tourmate Phoebe Bridgers, who joked that the world should be grateful to have grown up in a world with “Taylor Swift” or “the world… ‘Taylor’s Version.'” Swift then gave a speech, thanking her fans for their support throughout her career, including her recent genre switch from country to pop and her massive undertaking of re-recording her old music. Swift won another award later in the night for Song of the Year for her single Anti-Hero, which held the top spot on the charts for eight weeks.
Pink receives Icon Award
Pink received the Icon Award and was treated to a tribute performance by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. The tribute was a teaser for Pink’s Summer Carnival tour, where they’ll play select dates later in the summer. Kelly Clarkson also performed a duet with Pink on “Just Give Me a Reason.”
