Starfield is where we and Bethesda will be spending most of our hours towards the latter half of this decade at least.
It’s the single most important project for Bethesda right now and one they’ll be deeply invested in for the foreseeable future. Based on what we’ve seen so far and at the time of writing this blog just a few days ahead of Early Access, Starfield looks ripe and ready to do what Skyrim technically cannot – build for the future.
Here I’ll be talking about the Starfield Collector’s Edition, what it is (what it actually is) and all that it is not.
I’ll talk about a few other Starfield editions as well.
What is the Starfield Collector’s Edition?
Enough.
There is no Starfield Collector’s Edition.
Instead, there’s a Starfield Constellation Edition that’s often referred to as the Collector’s Edition.
Why?
As is common nowadays with title releases from top game studios, like Bethesda, the video game comes with real-world experiences in the form of goodies and whatnot, branded for reminiscence, fandom, and lore.
Just so, collectibles are what make games relatable, the characters human, and the stories relevant in comparison to the real world.
While all this might be a bit too much to take, the simplest way to put it – collectibles make video games part of our lives, and we want them for just that.
And from collectibles, we come to the Starfield Collector’s Edition.
Starfield Collector’s Edition = Starfield Constellation Edition
Collector’s Editions are the ones that are available as physical editions, bagged with goodies, watches, patches, artwork, and more.
In case of Starfield, there are 2 physical editions, and the Constellation edition is one of them, which we fans have fondly renamed as the Collector’s Edition.
So, there is no Collector’s Edition. What you’re looking for IRL is the Starfield Constellation Edition.
Now, let’s do you.
Did you pre-order Starfield?
If yes, then I hope you enjoyed Early Access.
If not, then you need to know about the available editions you can still order today.
Starfield Constellation Edition is out of stock in almost all places right now, so I’ll leave that out. If you want to know more about that, hit that link up top.
Starfield Editions You Can Still Order
Standard Edition
You can get your hands on the Standard Edition which will include the game with a digital key and a pre-order bonus.
I’ve slotted in all about the pre-order bonus below.
Premium Edition
This is the standard upgrade over the Standard Edition. It includes the Shattered Space expansion pack which you’ll get to play post release, 5 days Early Access which is perhaps the best thing about pre-ordering, the Constellation Skin Pack which looks great and may just give you an early advantage when you start clocking the hours, and access to Starfield’s Digital Artbook and the Original Soundtrack.
Premium Edition Upgrade
There are 2 physical editions available for Starfield. One’s this and the other’s the Starfield Collector’s Edition (which you should know all about by now).
If you get this Premium Edition Upgrade, you get all the above from the Premium Edition and –
- An awesome Steelcase for the game
- The Constellation Patch
Right now, this is the closest you can come to getting any real-world collectibles of Starfield, unless you’re lucky enough to find a Constellation Edition in stock.
Starfield Pre-Order Bonus
Pre-order Starfield Premium, Premium, and the Starfield Constellation Edition from anywhere and you get a bundle of fun –
Early Access
You know this already. You get to play Starfield from T-5, i.e., 1st September instead of waiting for the 6th.
Old Mars Skin
This is a simple but interesting addition to the pre-order. Mark my words, this skin set will be much in vogue as we warp through time, of course, unless it’s made available in the skin shop, or someone makes an identical mod replacement.
With this skin pack, you get a Laser Cutter early game and deep mining Helmet and Pack.
Is Bethesda secretly asking players to pool up on resources early game? Are we looking at a live-world multiplayer for Starfield?
Too soon to speculate but wouldn’t that be great?
After all, Starfield is supposed to be Skyrim plus some bits and pieces of Fallout set in space.
With the outposts, a thousand worlds, shooting & hacking/slashing, an expansive skills and traits system, and an ultra-customizable items setup, Starfield looks like it might just end up being Skyrim in space!
Coming back to the Starfield Collector’s Edition – since there is none, it’s safe to say that Starfield has already lived up to the hype. If Bethesda does end up managing the initial clamor post-release, everyone who’s not on Baldur’s Gate will be on Starfield either way or at least that’s how things look since Early Access.
