A horrifying, zombie game (except that it’s in the woods), Son of the Forest, becomes the most added game to Steam’s wishlist this week!
We are closely monitoring the shifting titles of the most-wishlisted games on Steam, and some interesting developments have occurred recently. And it looks like it’s taken over by a game where you get to kill abhorrently-looking cannibals, The Sons of the Forest.
About the Sons of the Forest
If you are unfamiliar with Sons of the Forest, it is the sequel to the survival game, The Forest, way back in 2014, during the Steam Greenlight era. In The Forest, players will gather on an island and build a shelter, craft weapons and tools, gather food and water, and confront the island’s terrifying inhabitants: a tribe of vicious cannibals.
Moreover, The Forest have a rocky start, as is typical of unfinished games, but it also showed enormous potential with its striking visuals, horrifying enemies, and memorable survival and combat systems including the ability to use a severed leg as a melee weapon.
Over the following years, the developers continuously patched it, introduced new features such as co-op and VR support, and eventually amassed a following. Moreover, the following remained loyal: thousands of people continue to play The Forest daily, and its peak consecutive player count of over 76,000 occurred just a few months ago.
The game takes the top spot
This week, the horror survival sandbox game Sons of the Forest has taken over the top wishlist spot from Starfield, Bethesda’s highly anticipated RPG. Furthermore, it appears that more Steam users are now looking forward in exploring a single creepy island.
There are a few explanations as to why an indie survival game has surpassed Bethesda’s next RPG on players’ shopping lists.
