Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg and Nicholas Bagory have officially tied the knot in a civil ceremony held at the Town Hall of Luxembourg City.
The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg announced the engagement of Princess Alexandra to Nicholas Bagory in November 2022, and confirmed a few weeks later that the couple would celebrate their union with two ceremonies this spring.
The Civil Ceremony
On Saturday, the 31-year-old princess and her 33-year-old groom were legally married before their families in a short and intimate civil ceremony at the Town Hall of Luxembourg City.
The couple arrived at Place Guillaume in the capital city, where the public was invited to welcome them, before the ceremony began at 9:30 a.m. local time.
After the service, Princess Alexandra and Nicholas Bagory left the town hall to greet the crowd of well-wishers.
Together with the rest of the royal family, the newlyweds then made their way back to the Grand Ducal Palace via the Rue de la Reine.
Later in the evening, a private reception was held at the royal palace.
The Religious Wedding
The couple’s celebration won’t end there, as they are set to have their religious wedding next Saturday.
The ceremony will take place at Saint Trophyme church in Bormes-les-Mimosas.
The court previously stated in a press release that “the two families join in the happiness of the engaged couple by surrounding them with their affection.”
The announcement came with a formal portrait of the happy couple, showing them posing closely together.
In the picture, Princess Alexandra’s unique engagement ring, a gold band encrusted with diamonds and other colored gems, was on full display.
Who is Princess Alexandra?
Alexandra is the only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.
She is currently seventh in line to the throne, following her elder brother Grand Duke Guillame, his 2-year-old son Prince Charles, his newborn son Prince François, her elder brother Prince Félix, his 8-year-old daughter Princess Amalia, and 6-year-old son Prince Liam.
Following Alexandra is her younger brother, Prince Sébastien.
Nicholas Bagory’s Background
The courtiers shared a bit of Nicholas’ background when they announced his engagement to Alexandra in the fall.
He was raised in Brittany, France, and studied political science and classics before starting his career in social and cultural projects.
It remains unclear when the couple met or how long they had been together before getting engaged.
Busy Spring for the Royal Family
Princess Alexandra’s double weddings are not the only events keeping the Luxembourg royal family busy this spring.
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa are set to attend King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation ceremony in London on May 6.
They will be joining other royal representatives from Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Japan, and more at the event.
