Prince Harry has left London, just hours after attending his father King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday.
While the occasion brought the royal family together, it was reported that the Duke of Sussex did not plan to stay long.
Traveling without his wife Meghan Markle, Prince Harry returned to California where he is currently residing with their two children.
Buckingham Palace had previously announced that Prince Harry would attend the coronation while Meghan would stay back in California with their young children.
The Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey was attended by 2,200 guests and was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
However, Prince Harry did not make an appearance on the balcony at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony.
A Journey of over 5,400 miles
The transatlantic trip back to California is a journey of over 5,400 miles and takes around 11 hours nonstop.
However, due to the time difference, Prince Harry could be home with his family by evening.
While Prince Harry was in London, Meghan Markle celebrated their son Archie’s fourth birthday with a small party at their home in California.
“It’s going to be a low-key party at home,” a source previously told PEOPLE of the plans. “They’ll have friends around them and Meghan’s mom, Doria [Ragland]. Meghan will definitely have support that weekend.”
Royal Family Tensions
Although tensions have been high between Prince Harry and the royal family since the release of his memoir, the Duke of Sussex is believed to have attended the coronation ceremony out of duty and love for his father.
King Charles, 74, was deeply saddened by the accusations of disloyalty and media manipulation that his younger son made against the royal family in his memoir.
But it was Charles’s “first wish” for Harry to join them at the coronation, says a source who knows the royals.
In conclusion, Prince Harry’s trip to London for his father’s coronation was brief but significant.
It brought the royal family together, including his estranged brother Prince William, and provided an opportunity for Prince Harry to show his love and support for his father despite the ongoing tensions between them.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle celebrated their son Archie’s birthday at home with their family and friends.
