Overwatch League Season 6 Format Details, Updates, & More

With the introduction of pro teams into league play, Season 6 of the Overwatch League will feature one of the most significant modifications to date!

Teams from the Overwatch League’s Contenders division will participate in the regular season for the first time in Season 6.

What we know about Overwatch League

The Overwatch League’s two competition “splits” will culminate in two live events.

Fans appreciated the level of competition in the fifth season of the Overwatch League, which features the first professional games of Overwatch 2.

Moreover, the Overwatch League Grand Finals between the Dallas Fuel and the San Francisco Shock went the full seven games, with an average concurrent viewership of over 300,000.

With such ambitious objectives established, the league must endeavor to retain interest throughout the season.

Updates and features coming

Season 6 is shaping up to be exciting, as the entire Overwatch Path to Pro system will be participating in some form.

Furthermore, In Season 6 of the Overwatch League, there will be a significant change to the way the East and West Divisions work.

Later in February, divisional tournaments will happen for the best Korean, Asian, and Oceanic Overwatch Contenders and Open Division teams; the victors will advance to face the best North American, European, and Oceanic Overwatch League teams.

And on March 23, Overwatch Contenders teams from North America and Europe will begin competing in a Pro-Am tournament ahead of the start of Spring Qualifier matches for the Overwatch League.

Moreover, dates for the Overwatch League Playoffs and Midseason Madness tournaments, both of which will be live events with double elimination brackets, will reveal at a later time.

Games are most likely to happen for the Overwatch World Cup qualification tournament between the Spring and Summer Stages.

Also, for the Summer Stage event, the best East Contenders teams that made it to the spring playoffs will be invited back to compete. The Summer Stage will not feature any West Pro-Am competition, and instead, all participating teams will advance directly into the Playoffs qualification round.

News from participating teams

The Overwatch League’s sixth season could be one of the most difficult to date.

Two teams have uprooted and moved: the Paris Eternal is now the Vegas Eternal, while the Philadelphia Fusion is now the Seoul Infernal.

The Los Angeles Valiant, whose controlling company was based in China and hence had to play in the East area, moved back to the West division after two years, leaving the East with fewer teams and prompting the addition of the East’s Contenders teams.

This could be the result of distributor issues between Blizzard against NetEase after the former suspended their services in China last year.
