It’s no secret that Nintendo has been crushing it lately with their Switch console, but fans are always eager to know what’s next for the iconic gaming company, especially news about Switch 2.
In a recent investor Q&A, Nintendo of America boss Doug Bowser was put on the spot about the possibility of a Switch successor.
However, he was quick to deflect the question and focus on the continued success of the Switch console instead of the potential successor.
Would there be a Switch 2 in the future?
However, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice that Bowser dropped a tantalizing hint about what might be in store for the future of Nintendo gaming.
According to Bowser, Nintendo is always looking for new and innovative ways to “surprise and delight” gamers, which seems to suggest that there’s more to come than just a simple upgrade to the Switch hardware.
I think what you´ll see with gaming is that we´ll continue to see new technologies come into play that will allow us to expand the number of players that come in. As we think about technology, the most important thing is we think about how it will improve the gameplay experienced.
It’s not technology for technology´s sake. Will it really create this experience that is immersive, that creates smiles. We lead with that and then see what technology can support that.
Doug Bowser
Of course, Bowser was careful not to reveal too much, and his “trained in PR” response didn’t give away any concrete details about what’s next for Nintendo.
But his emphasis on the unique features of the Switch and the company’s commitment to surprising its fans left many speculating that something big is in the works.
Nintendo is still committed to their current progresses
For Nintendo fans, this is par for the course. The company has always been known for its surprises and unexpected moves, and just when you think you have them figured out, they throw you for a loop. With Bowser’s recent comments, it’s clear that Nintendo is still focused on pushing the boundaries of what gaming can be, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Whether it’s a Switch 2 or something entirely new like an integrated Game Pass for Switch, one thing is for sure – Nintendo will always keep us on our toes.
