Mortal Kombat 1, the highly anticipated fighting game from NetherRealm, has confirmed the addition of three new characters: Motaro, Nitara, and Reiko.
This news comes from the recent San Diego Comic Con, where the game has had a significant presence.
The New Additions
The characters Motaro, Nitara, and Reiko are set to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. Motaro, a unique four-legged Centaurian, first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3. Nitara, a winged vampire, made her debut in 2002’s Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
Reiko, an Outworld character, first graced the Mortal Kombat universe in Mortal Kombat 4. All three characters had cameo roles in Mortal Kombat 11, but they are expected to have more substantial roles in Mortal Kombat 1.
The Kameo Fighters Concept
Mortal Kombat 1 introduces a new concept called Kameo Fighters, where players can call upon other Mortal Kombat characters for assistance during battles.
These characters are not fully playable but will significantly impact gameplay. Some characters will serve as both Kameo Fighters and main roster members.
It remains unclear whether Motaro, Nitara, and Reiko will be full roster members, Kameo Fighters, or simply appear in story mode cutscenes.
There’s also a circulating rumor that a certain Mortal Kombat 1 DLC might include Homelander from The Boys, as well as other characters from movies and games.
The Growing Roster
The Mortal Kombat 1 roster is rapidly expanding, with both the Kameo Fighters and the main roster filling up. The game’s release date is fast approaching, and fans can expect final tallies of Mortal Kombat 1 characters soon.
The third Mortal Kombat 1 trailer, which features the new characters, has not yet been officially released online. However, thanks to attendees at San Diego Comic Con, we know it includes these three new characters.
