Sony took 5 years to return with a new Spiderman. Whether Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will be as good as its predecessor only time will tell. But this game’s a GOTY nominee for sure just like Spiderman: Miles Morales.

Is Spider-Man 2 PS5 exclusive?
Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will be a PS5 exclusive on launch. This means you can only get to play the game if you have a PS5. A few months on, it should be available for other platforms including Xbox and PC. But there is no official date or confirmation on when Spiderman 2 will be available on platforms other than PS5.
Is Marvel’s Spiderman 2 on PS4?
Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will not be available for PS4. PlayStation 4 is a 2013 console and its hardware limitations will make it unable to run a 2023 title like Marvel’s Spiderman 2. Sony has confirmed that this new Spiderman game will not have backward compatibility to make it playable on the PS4.

It’s great that Sony’s added both cosmetic and some minor in-game add-ons to make it worth a buy.

Marvel’s Spiderman 2: New Gameplay Features
That’s the ‘Be Greater. Together.’ Trailer. The hype’s right up there.
Spiderman 2 must fill in some really big shoes from 18’s runaway hit Miles Morales, arguably the GOTY back then.
Insomniac’s added a lot into the game even though we won’t get multiplayer or co-op (that’s what we wanted the most.)
But they’ve added a whole lot of new features instead.
Free Change Characters
You can now change between Peter and Miles when you free-roam NYC.
Bigger NYC Open-World
NYC’s a lot bigger including 3 boroughs, Manhattan from before and now Brooklyn and Queens. There are new zones to cover and make it through. It’s also more interactive with hidden utility objects and features spread throughout the 2x larger map.
Web Wings
Now, you can navigate traversals without buildings and tight spaces like wind tunnels. Web wings let you fly and glide through tight spots and spaces without buildings easily. This will change the meta.
Parry Attacks
Previously, we had dodge prompts helping us to dodge incoming attacks that we’d have missed otherwise. With parry, we’ll be dodging less and counterattacking a lot more. Another change to the meta.
Symbiote
Peter will don the black Symbiote suit. More power, more health, along with Symbiote attack and defense moves – this is what we’ve been waiting for.
Party of Suits
Including the Symbiote suit, you’ll get to play Peter and Miles across more than 65 suits. The gameplay just got bigger and badder. (The Iron Spider suits’ there too!)
New Villains
We will have Kraven the Hunter and of course Venom in Marvel’s Spiderman 2. There’ll be other villains too including Lizard and Grizzly.
Fixed FPS Modes
A smart tech addition, the game will accommodate distinct fps modes across 30fps, 40fps and 60fps. This will allow gamers to choose between frame rates and overall graphics quality.
VRR Support and Raytracing
Every frame and millisecond of the game will have VRR support as well as raytracing to make NYC look better than it is and the game more immersive than ever before.
More Dual Sense Haptic Feedbacks
All new Dual Sense haptic feedbacks throughout the game but specifically enhanced for when you put on the Symbiote suit. Arguably, this might be the best gaming experience you’ll get with your PS5.
Why is there no Co-Op or Multiplayer in Marvel’s Spiderman 2?
Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will not have multiplayer or co-op modes. Despite the whole cult of fans expecting since Miles Morales, Insomniac has all but confirmed that this new Spiderman 2 will not get multiplayer or co-op. One possible reason behind this is the intensive graphics immersion of the game which makes it difficult to deliver a co-op experience across networks without ping or lag. Even though tech’s advanced 10x over the last 5 years, network bandwidth and synchronization continue to be the major hurdle while providing co-op or multiplayer experiences. However, the upcoming Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will have co-op. So this is a moral defeat for Insomniac and for Sony too.
How long is Marvel’s Spiderman 2?
Marvel’s Spiderman 2 will have 20-25 hours average gametime if you stick to the core progression. 100% completion is put at under 45 hours compared to the 30+ hours for Miles Morales. This is mostly because the playable NYC map in Spiderman 2 is now at least twice as large, including a total of 3 boroughs.
Is Venom in Spiderman 2?
Venom is in Marvel’s Spiderman 2. The man behind the Venom is Harry Osborn and not Eddie Brock. Venom plays a key villain’s role in the new Spiderman from Insomniac, crucially alongside Kraven the Hunter. It will be interesting to watch Peter taking on Venom in his Symbiote suit. Venom will be voiced by Tony Todd.
This is a possible GOTY, alongside Starfield and maybe Avatar. Marvel’s Spiderman 2 has everything we fans ever wanted, excluding multiplayer or co-op. But gameplay’s leaped miles ahead, we get a bigger NYC, both Peter and Miles have a shop of suits to use, and we have Venom too. What playthrough are you at?
