Brian “Brizz” Gillis, a founding member of the 90s boy band LFO, passed away at 47. It has not been confirmed yet what caused his death. Gillis was one of the original members of LFO, which included Rich Cronin and Brad Fischetti, and they released their debut single, Summer Girls, in 1999. Although the band saw some success before Summer Girls, that song catapulted them to stardom. LFO had also lost two other band members: Rich Cronin in 2010 and Devin Lima in 2018.
The Beginning of LFO
Brian Gillis, popularly known as Brizz, was a founding member of the popular boy band LFO. Along with Rich Cronin, they established the group in 1995 in Massachusetts. Brad Fischetti joined later, and they were signed to Lou Pearlman’s record label, Trans Continental Records, which was also responsible for signing boy bands like NSYNC and Backstreet Boys.
The band had some success before they released their debut single, Summer Girls, in 1999. However, the song made them popular with its catchy tune and the memorable lyric, “I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch.” Their album LFO, including the hit single Girl on TV, went platinum in 2000.
Loss of Band Members
Although the members of LFO were young and at the height of their careers, the band experienced significant losses with the deaths of three of its members. Rich Cronin passed away in 2010 after battling leukemia, which was complicated by a stroke he suffered after a stem cell transplant.
He was only 36 at the time. Devin Lima, who replaced Gillis, died in 2018 from stage 4 adrenal cancer. He was 41. Now, the band has lost Brian “Brizz” Gillis at the age of 47, and his cause of death has not been made public.
Brad Fischetti’s Tribute to Gillis
Brad Fischetti, the only surviving band member, shared a tribute to Gillis on his Instagram page. He wrote about their complicated relationship, which contained both moments of tribulation and joy. Fischetti credited Gillis for his hard work and dedication during the early days of LFO.
If it weren’t for Gillis and Cronin’s efforts, LFO’s first two chapters wouldn’t exist, said Fischetti. He also stated that he had been praying for Gillis daily for many years and would continue praying for him, his family, friends, and fans. Fischetti hopes that Gillis, Cronin, and Lima will make sweet sounds together.
