The 2023 Met Gala brought together a star-studded crowd, including two familiar faces who happened to be former flames. Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, who called it quits in August 2022, attended the prestigious fashion event separately.
However, a surprising reunion took place inside the gala when the exes crossed paths and were photographed engaging in a friendly conversation alongside musician Usher.
A Friendly Encounter at the Met Gala
The pictures captured Davidson, 29, smiling at Kardashian, 42, while she interacted with Usher. At one point, she even reached for Davidson’s hand, indicating a cordial interaction between the two.
Both Kardashian and Davidson adhered to the event’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” with their stylish outfits.
The SKIMS mogul turned heads in a custom Schiaparelli haute couture design by Daniel Roseberry.
Her ensemble featured a draped skirt and top adorned with over 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls.
The intricate gown took a team of twelve artisans a staggering 1,000 hours to create.
On the other hand, the Saturday Night Live comedian opted for a casual yet effortlessly cool look.
He sported a Fendi bucket hat, black-out shades, and black gloves, pairing them with a long black coat that incorporated tuxedo-like elements.
Davidson completed his ensemble with a colorful T-shirt underneath.
Reconnecting with Usher
This encounter not only marked a reunion between the exes but also a reunion of sorts for Kardashian and Usher.
Just a month ago, the 44-year-old singer serenaded Kardashian during his Las Vegas residency, performing his hits “Superstar” and “My Boo.”
Kardashian and Davidson attending the Met Gala separately this year is a departure from their last appearance as a couple in May of the previous year.
At that time, Kardashian made headlines by donning a unique champagne rhinestone gown previously worn by Marilyn Monroe, while Davidson opted for a classic black suit complemented by sunglasses.
The couple exuded affection, gazing adoringly at each other and holding hands.
Davidson even planted a gentle kiss on Kardashian’s forehead for the cameras.
Even before gracing the red carpet, Davidson had been by Kardashian’s side as she prepared for her iconic yet controversial look.
He accompanied her to the fitting at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida, from where the dress was borrowed.
Their Journey and Beyond
Their romantic involvement began in October 2021 when Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time.
Over the course of nine months, the couple enjoyed getaways, date nights, and even made a memorable red carpet debut at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.
However, their demanding schedules ultimately led to their split.
“They both travel all the time, and it was hard,” a source revealed about the reason behind their breakup.
Since their separation, Davidson has been linked to model Emily Ratajkowski, although their relationship ended after a couple of months.
Davidson also attended this year’s Met Gala alongside his current girlfriend and co-star from Bodies Bodies Bodies, Chase Sui Wonders.
In the midst of their individual endeavors, both Kardashian and Davidson continue to make headlines.
