K-pop label SM Entertainment denied on March 27 that singer Sehun’s alleged non-celebrity girlfriend is expecting a child. An anonymous individual recently posted a picture on an online community and began spreading the story that Sehun’s non-celebrity girlfriend was pregnant. The netizen even cited a girl’s Kakao post as evidence. Numerous pictures shared by the purported girlfriend, although without confirmation, have continued to fuel rumors. The original post, however, has already been removed. SM Entertainment claims the reports are untrue and has issued a statement condemning the dissemination of false information as a criminal offense.
How did the rumors start?
Speculations and rumors abounded online, bolstered by several pictures the claimed girlfriend shared, but no proof could be found. An online forum claimed Sehun’s alleged girlfriend had conceived a child before marriage. It appeared that Sehun himself sat for the picture, showing off his signature square shoulders. A lady who is not a celebrity but is widely believed to be Sehun’s girlfriend shared the picture online. The lady has also posted a backdrop to her KakaoTalk page showing a pregnant woman.
SM Entertainment refutes rumors
Fans are going crazy over the images, with some even wondering if EXO has a reputation for having babies before getting married. SM Entertainment released a statement warning that spreading false information is criminal in response to the rumors. “The recent rumors involving Sehun which have been circulating online are completely groundless, false claims, and spreading maliciously written content that is different from the truth is a criminal act,” read an official statement by SM Entertainment to dispel the rumors.
The company monitors the situation and looks for the original poster and rumor spreaders. The statement concludes that the company will take strong legal action against those responsible for spreading false rumors.
