Dreaming of Olympic glory while playing Fortnite?
The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has included Fortnite in the Olympic Esports Finals, signaling a new era in the esports domain.
Fortnite Sharpshooting Showdown
Twelve top players from the Fortnite Champion Series will participate in a sharpshooting contest backed by the International Shooting Sport Federation.
The competition takes place on a custom-designed Fortnite Creative Island—no battle royales or building antics here.
Instead, spectators will be treated to an impressive display by some of the world’s finest virtual sharpshooters.
Olympic Esports Week: Tickets Now Available
In line with this exciting announcement, the IOC has started selling tickets for Olympic Esports Week.
This event will feature the first in-person finals of the 2023 competition series, focusing on nine games that mirror real-world sports managed by international federations.
The lineup includes Just Dance, Gran Turismo racing, Zwift cycling, and online chess.
Building on the 2021 Olympic Virtual Series—which encompassed five digital sports—the IOC sees such events as key to promoting esports and building ties with the gaming community.
Fortnite’s Peaceful Competition
The introduction of a Fortnite island aligns with the Committee’s objectives for esports, as it embodies a “peaceful competition” that mirrors a physical counterpart.
Although digital Olympics featuring titles like Counter-Strike 2 or League of Legends haven’t made the cut yet, Fortnite’s prominence in the Esports Series is poised to draw in viewers who might not usually be interested in traditional esports contests.
