Chris Pratt opened up about his low point before meeting his now-wife Katherine Schwarzenegger in a church. The Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show that there was a moment in his life when he felt “really struggling and broken.”
Pratt, who was previously married to actress Anna Faris, said he found solace in his faith and, shortly after, met the woman of his dreams, Schwarzenegger. The couple married on June 8, 2019, in Montecito, California, and now have two daughters, Lyla, 2, and Eloise, eight months.
Timing is Everything
During the interview with Barrymore, Pratt offered wisdom, telling the talk show host that “it’s all about timing” and that there’s a perfect plan for everyone. He also encouraged her to have faith, saying everything would fall into place when she did.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger met each other in a church, with Pratt revealing that he spotted her for the first time while sitting in the front row. “You kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Whoa, who’s that?’ at church,” he said. “But I was sneaking glances, wondering, ‘Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on. I’m broken; help me. But who’s that?’ So we hit it off. We didn’t start right away, but we met there and later went out.”
Their connection was “very quick,” with Barrymore echoing Pratt’s earlier confession that “God puts it on fast-forward.” He said their connection made sense and was like “doing a puzzle, and there’s a piece, and you’re like, ‘I’m certain that’s the piece.’ Like it just fits together.”
Schwarzenegger Pratt also appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday and shared details about their courtship. She said that she met Pratt at church and that it was very sweet, but he didn’t try to pick her up in church.
Forgiveness and Faith
Schwarzenegger Pratt also spoke about forgiveness during the interview, promoting her latest literary work, “The Gift of Forgiveness.” Pratt said that the book is fabulous and that when he screws up, he reminds her of her book.
Schwarzenegger Pratt, the daughter of actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver, began dating Pratt in 2018. The couple got engaged in January 2019, and Schwarzenegger Pratt said things were “amazing” then.
She added that finding the person you get to spend the rest of your life with is a “huge gift and a huge blessing, so I feel really lucky.”
