1. Quick Charge

Unlike a bow, in order to shoot the crossbow, you will need to load the ammunition first. The unenchanted crossbow takes up to 1.25 seconds to load, that’s around 25 game ticks if you want further calculation.

Quick Charge enchantment has a maximum level of three and the level can be increased limitlessly by using a command. Each level of Quick Charge will decrease the time to load the crossbow by 0.25. At level III, it only takes 0.5 seconds to load the crossbow and it’s slightly faster than a normal bow.

Using commands to put Quick Charge IV or V into a Crossbow is possible. This will make the crossbow loaded instantly. But any level higher than V will make it impossible to shoot the Crossbow.

First, your crossbow will break faster since multishot crossbows use 3 durability points when shooting, and up to 9 when you shoot fireworks. Secondly, you can’t have a crossbow that has both Multishot and Piercing.

3. Piercing

Piercing is a crossbow enchantment that makes your projectile pierce through enemies. If you’ve ever come across a large number of mobs and have limited ammunition, Piercing will save your life!

With the maximum level of IV, each level of Piercing will make your projectile hit one more additional entity and up to 5 entities at the maximum level.

In advance, the way Unbreaking works is they have a chance to not reduce the durability of the item. Unbreaking I provides a 50% chance, while Unbreaking II is 66.66% and Unbreaking III is a 75% chance.

On average, a normal crossbow has 326 durability points on Java Edition and 464 on Bedrock Edition. With Unbreaking III enchantment, this amount can be increased to 1304 and 1856.
