Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, a well-known Native American-owned gaming enterprise, is enticing its guests with a unique culinary challenge. Patrons who successfully complete the challenge are eligible for a $300 free-play incentive.
A Gastronomical Challenge at The 909
The competitive event centers around the Mega Dog – a 22-inch, 3,000-calorie hot dog that guests must consume within 15 minutes. This gastronomical contest is set to take place at The 909, a restaurant within the resort named after the area’s telephone code. The 909, touted as the ultimate sports bar, offers a variety of dining options including JBQ and Pizza Mayhem.
On August 11, The 909 invites patrons to take on the Mega Dog challenge. Those who manage to finish the hot dog, loaded with cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, pickled jalapenos, red onions, and white sauce, within the stipulated time frame will win $300 in free spins. Participants have to pay an entry fee of $25, which is waived for the winners.
Encouragement from a Competitive Eating Champion
To add to the excitement, professional competitive eater Matt Stonie will be present at the event, cheering on those brave enough to tackle the Mega Dog. Winners not only receive the gaming incentive but also have their picture placed in the Mega Dog Hall of Fame and get a complimentary T-shirt commemorating their achievement.
Stonie, famous for breaking Joey Chestnut’s winning streak at the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2015, has some advice for the challenge participants. He suggests starting with the toppings they like before moving on to the less appealing ones. “I think that will help you mentally get into the rhythm of things, and enjoy and destroy the hot dog,” he said.
An Ongoing Challenge for Club Serrano Members
For those unable to make it to Yaamava’ this Friday, The 909 will continue offering the Mega Dog challenge throughout the year, exclusively for Club Serrano member, the casino’s loyalty program. However, the cost for the challenge will be raised to $30 per attempt, and the time limit will be reduced to just 10 minutes. Winners will receive similar rewards, including $300 in free play at any of the games that include Live Poker, Baccarat and Blackjack, a shirt, and an induction into the Mega Dog Hall of Fame.
