In Season 2 of Dragonflight, Mythic Keystone dungeons are undergoing a major revamp, with the introduction of new affixes to the weekly rotation in World of Warcraft.
Updates for Dragonflight Mythic Season 2
For years, affixes have been a contentious topic among players, with some finding them to be more of a hindrance than a challenge.
Removed seasonal affixes
In response, the developers are removing seasonal affixes and a few others, like Volcanic, Grievous, and Quaking, to make way for newer, more exciting affixes that will take their place.
New affixes added
One of the new affixes, Incorporeal, summons spectral figures that attempt to destabilize the group. These figures can cast a debuff on the party that reduces their damage and healing by 50%, but they can be crowd-controlled, making them more manageable.
Another new affix, Afflicted, causes spirits to appear near the group in need of aid. Failure to heal or cleanse the spirits within 10 seconds will result in a 100% haste reduction debuff, making it crucial for players to act fast.
The Entangling affix is more straightforward: players can become entangled by a snaring vine in combat, slowing their movement speed by 50% for 8 seconds and stunning them for 3 seconds if they don’t snap the vine by moving 10 yards away. Meanwhile, the Explosive Mythic affix is also getting a rework, with fewer Explosive Orbs spawning but with a significantly greater health pool in Season 2.
All to improve the gaming experience
Overall, the changes to Mythic Keystone dungeons in Season 2 of Dragonflight show that Blizzard is committed to making the experience more enjoyable for all players.
While there may not be a one-size-fits-all solution to affixes, the company’s dedication to improving them suggests that more radical changes may be in store in the future.
Dragonflight Patch 10.1
Patch 10.1 of Dragonflight also introduces a new zone, Zaralek Cavern, which players can explore and use to gear up their alts before tackling Mythic Keystones.
Blizzard has asked for feedback on the new affixes, as the community strongly believes that the best affixes are those that offer rewards for solving them, rather than punishing players for not dealing with an annoying mechanic.
