The PS5 will launch soon (fall 2020), after almost a year since its announcement. As Sony keeps a tight lid on the news related to this console, there is not much information about it after the unveiling in June.
The console comes with a dual sense wireless controller based on DualShock that has adaptive triggers with haptic feedback. The gamers are waiting with bated breath as Sony revealed that the console would feature a revamped user interface.
We have scoured through various news articles available on the internet regarding the upcoming games on PS5. Here is the news you should know about it!
Confirmed PS5 Games
1. GTA V
- Release Date: Launches with PS5
- Developer: Rockstar Games
The legendary GTA V will launch with the console, so you don’t have to worry about paying. However, the offer is valid only for 3 months, so you better stock up to buy PS5 as soon as it launches. While we are talking about good news, PS4 users will get $1 million cash in the game every month until the successor is launched.
GTA V is a gamer’s paradise as it is meticulously designed to tingle the gaming beast inside you. The makers listened to all players and launched a game that didn’t toggle between anti-violence philosophy and sociopathic killings.
Here, the missions allocated to Michael mostly revolve around his family and its past. Franklin is associated with vehicular missions, whereas Trevor handles the killing part. In-game graphics are stunning, to say the least, and right up there with the best.
GTA V is an ambitious game that brings in vehicular mayhem with a satire over American contemporaries. This is probably the most awaited upcoming PS5 games yet!
2. Fortnite
- Release Date: Launches with PS5
- Developer: Epic Games
Fortnite, a game that started out as a third-person shooting game and then turned into a battle royale exploded as a global phenomenon.
It made Epic Games one of the most popular brands around. The company pushed boundaries by providing an impeccable gaming experience that became better at every iteration. Fortnite is not just a game anymore. It is a whole new universe where gamers come together to witness memorable events.
The gameplay is simple, you are dropped into an island of 99 people. You can be an introvert by carefully collecting resources without making any contact. If you don’t like doing that, you can just become a war machine by killing everything at sight by launching a barrage of bullets or maybe just going old school.
Fortnite is an aesthetic masterpiece but takes “inspirations” from other games. Although it still lacks the mechanical advancements and combat experience offered by popular games like PUBG, perhaps that is just what makes it popular! There are also some unexplained problems while playing on other platforms.
However, the best thing about Fortnite is that it is a continuously evolving and fascinating world. And it’s going to be released on PS5 as well!
3. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Release Date: Holiday 2020
- Developer: Insomniac Games
The Spiderverse movie released in 2018 was a runaway hit and even got an Academy Award for the best-animated feature. It is about time Sony cashed-in on the movie’s popularity. The makers have confirmed that the game will provide an option for 4K/60fps for players who love playing at higher frame rates. As the game’s release coincides with PS5, we might be in for day one launch title.
Although Sony’s most spiderman movies were a debacle, the games have always got us standing on our toes. The Spiderman game in 2019 was the fastest-selling game, surpassing the previous contender, God of War, with 3.3 million copies sold in the first three days. For the unversed, the Spiderverse movie had web slingers from every universe fighting a common enemy.
According to the makers, the story of the game will involve a fight for power between criminal and energy corporations with our hero caught in the middle. The creative director of Insomniac, Brain Horton, has assured that the game will have new antagonists and unique quests across NYC.
4. Hitman 3
- Release Date: 2021
- Developer: Ubisoft
The Hitman franchise catapulted to fame with its stealth assassin mode, where you can knock out your enemies with panache and mastery. The conclusion of this epic series is releasing next year. Hitman 3 will follow its predecessors’ template with a few changes.
The game won’t have everyone’s favorite Ghost mode, and it is already absent from Hitman 2. However, the threequel will still have Escalations, Contracts, and Sniper Assassin. The makers have also assured that Hitman 3 will have multiplayer – definitely one of the most awaited new PlayStation games on this list!
5. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Release Date: Holiday 2020
- Developer: Ubisoft
It is hard to believe that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is 5 years old. The graphics, gameplay, and tactical multiplayer shooter still feel flawless. Ubisoft made sure that the game is up and running with timely and consistent updates even after you invest 1000+ hours in it.
Although first/third person online multiplayer shooters are a new albeit exploding genre of gaming, this is perhaps one of the classics. You now get one-way mirrors, holograms, laser drones, etc. for an absorbing gameplay with addictive variables and required skill sets. Without a doubt, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most anticipated PS5 games for online multiplayers!
6. Outriders
- Release Date: Holiday 2020
- Developer: People Can Fly
In Outriders, humanity is on a quest to find its new home after their earth is expunged of its resources and doesn’t have a sustainable environment. Therefore, the human race abandons it and forces itself to find the new planet of Enoch for its survival. But it’s not smooth sailing and you will face a daunting task of neutralizing a range of alien beings and natural forces.
One of the shooters to add special abilities in a sci-fi environment, Outrider excels where few other games have ventured so far. Other than the surrealistic action, you get to make a barrage of power attacks, just what separates this one of the best PS5 games worth the wait!
7. GhostWire: Tokyo
- Release Date: 2021
- Developer: Tango Gameworks
After releasing the epic game The Evil Within Two, the makers are back with another spooky game. In the announcement trailer, we saw that almost 99% of the population in Tokyo has disappeared.
As humans are gone, the city is surrounded by creepy crawlies and spirits of various kinds. The onus is upon you to find the reason for their vanishing act and exorcising the demons roaming in the city. The trailer also reveals that the protagonist will have many magic abilities that are activated through hand gestures!
8. Godfall
- Release Date: Holiday 2020
- Developer: Counterplay Games
Godfall was one of the earliest additions to the PS5 games list. If you like Loki, the god of mischief, then you will love Godfall. In this game, the main goal is to bring down a notorious deity, Macros. As a knight, you are granted a unique power of equipping Valorplates, which is like an armor that gives you different abilities.
There are five weapon classes, and you can get acquainted with any of them. It provides an incredible gaming experience where you get to knock out vicious goons with awesome combo attacks. Definitely one of the most awaited PlayStation 5 games to come out, Godfall is rated as a dark horse.
9. NBA Live 21
- Release Date: Fall 2020
- Developer: EA Sports
The NBA 21 trailer showcased its technological prowess over other games when it comes to graphics. It is one of the rare games that offers offline gaming, and celebs like Idris Elba have been featured in it as well.
NBA has attracted a lot of hate for changing its shooting system. The negativity was so bad that the Gameplay Director, Mike Wang, had to address the situation on Twitter. Yet, for NBA gamers, the PS5 game version is the release of the year.

Rumored PS5 Games
14. God of War 5
More of an expectation than a rumor. The God of War was a gaming spectacle, notching some serious sales until Spidey ousted it from the top spot. Although, the fodder for these expectations/rumors was provided by Sony as they confirmed it in their job listing in the Santa Monica location, it is an open secret now. A new God of War is surely on the table but there’s little to no chance that we will get to see it this year!
15. Last of Us Part II
The Last of Us Part II was released to PS4 recently in June 2020. With its realistic graphics simulation and varied gameplay, this is surely going to get a rerun on PS5, hopefully with better frame rates!
16. Overwatch 2
Blizzard is known not to toy around with rumors. The company revealed in BlizzCon 2019 that the sequel is still in early development, and it is unsure of the release date. The rumors are that the Overwatch sequel is getting a complete overhaul with changes and will focus mostly on PvE missions. We also have a cinematic released by the company, and it will blow your mind.
17. Harry Potter RPG
This is a dream come true for many Potterheads as you get to live the life of a wizard. Warner Bros and Avalanche Software have confirmed that the game is in the works and will release soon. The makers released a magical trailer for the game last year. Gamers are already drooling over the possibility of a huge open world and the enormity of gameplay variables they can fully expect. It looks exactly like the movie but has a dark tinge to it, a welcome one. According to rumors, the game is expected to release in 2021.
18. Diablo 4
With 2020 not going as planned, Blizzard have purportedly stopped working on Diablo 4, pushing the release date from 2021 or 2022. Players did get some early access to the game although with not the best opinions in return. Let us hope that Blizzard fixes the shortcomings to a popular series!
19. Dragon Age 4
Dragon Age 4 is another PS5 game whose release was an open secret for the past few years. The makers BioWare have assured that the saga of Thedas is far from over. We have been getting little tidbits about the game as teasers. Although we expected an actual trailer, the teasers were intriguing. Lead writer Patrick Weekes said in an interview that the game is taking a different route after Inquisition. He also asked, “What happens when you don’t have power?”, so it is safe to assume that your powers in the game will be taken away.
Conclusion
These are the best PS5 games you should keep an eye out for. Check this space for any changes or news on further details. PlayStation 5 will go head to head with the Xbox Series X at the fall. There will surely be a few more games to add to this list by then. Feel free to suggest a few more in case we have missed out on any biggies!
