Dark and Darker gets better as you dig deeper into the gaming mechanics. There’s a lot to farm, a lot of strategies to test and perfect over time, and a hacker-free community behind it all, for now.
An interesting item to get a good little advantage going into boss fights or long PvPs is Troll’s Blood. Some of us are already onto this so it’s about time you should too.
This is the only Dark and Darker Troll’s Blood guide you’ll need, and you’ll get to the part about how to defeat the Cave Troll and to start farming Troll’s Blood right away the right way..
Troll’s Blood in Dark and Darker: Everything You Need To Know
Troll’s Blood has a powerful HP regen ability.
It generates 1 HP per second for 100 seconds.
Physical healing will not stack on to this. Even if you add a Healing Potion to this, Troll’s Blood will continue to heal 1 HP every second for T-100 seconds.
Now this would mean you can just consume Troll’s Blood and run around outside the safe zone countering its health pen while at it. Of course, that would mean the game needs a higher danger zone health pen but what about someone who’s not using Troll’s Blood? They won’t last more than a few seconds on a higher-health pen.
So, it’s only obvious that Troll’s Blood in Dark and Darker comes with a strong -20 to Move Speed.
That’ll last for 100 seconds too.
And that is something you’ll need to consider before using Troll’s Blood. For 100 seconds, no matter your class or build, slowing down can take the game away from you at the last second.
How to counter Troll’s Blood Move Speed debuff?
The best way to counter is with a Rogue class character with high stat points in Agility and maybe even the Fleet Footed skill added on.
Alternatively, you can choose a Barbarian build to use the Savage Roar skill when it comes to it.
You can also choose weapons, armor and shields that balance utility with the least move speed debuffs. Maybe not go with a shield at all!
How useful is Troll’s Blood in Dark and Darker?
Troll’s Blood is mighty useful in the right situations, but you need to have the right build for it to work out.
It’s either a high maneuverability and low-to-mid HP ranged build. Or a high-HP ranged build with average move speed.
With Troll’s Blood, melee-only builds will lose out to greenhorn ranged builds. You won’t get close enough in time to deal a blow with a move speed debuff.
Also, Troll’s Blood is best used when getting out of a mess of enemies, players, or a mob. Keep regenerating health and escape.
Troll’s Blood and Potion of Protection can be a powerful exit route from almost any scenario.
But it’s best used very late-game when you need to get out from the safe zone and drop some health to win it. Despite the health debuff, it’s a sure win with Troll’s Blood.
Now if the other player also has it, you’ll need to engage in combat. If you have a ranged build, you’ll have the upper hand.
Where To Get Troll’s Blood
You can find the Cave Troll in the Goblin Cave marked out up top. You can get it after beating the Cave Troll in the cave.
Troll’s Blood has a 10% drop rate.
That’s not much. But it is an Epic rarity item and considering that, the drop rate is generous.
How to Defeat the Cave Troll in Dark and Darker
There’s really no need to know about the different attacks of the Cave Troll other than the Roar.
This troll will Roar and reduce your move speed by 35% for a whole four seconds. If you’re in the way of the Roar, it unleashes visible soundwaves, you’ll slow down. To put the cherry top, the Cave Troll will follow up the Roar with a 200 Damage blow if you’re close by. In case you’re far off and affected by the Roar, expect the Troll to come over pretty fast and just do a normal 100 Damage swing.
But here’s the thumb rule – stick to the mace side of the Cave Troll. Give him half a second and move left. Look back and you’ll find him completing the strike without hitting you. That’s it. Keep repeating till it all works out.
There’s just one requirement. Make sure you have a ranged build with a good enough base damage to reduce the Cave Troll’s 1800 HP.
That goes up to 2400 HP in Elite mode and you need to take care of 2 minions as well. (Just let the Troll deal splash or direct damage to his own minions!)
So, is farming Troll’s Blood in Dark and Darker worth it?
In Dark and Darker Troll’s Blood is a way out of almost any mess. With the right build, it can win you clutch end-games. All you need to do is find the perfect technique to defeat the Cave Troll, which I’m sure I’ve leveled out plain enough. Keep farming. Or find out more games like Dark and Darker.
