Update: Major Nelson has just tweeted that the update is now live, it might not be available worldwide at first but you should be enjoying Modern Warfare 2 again shortly. For those that aren’t prompted, try refreshing your HDD’s cache. His full message is as follows, “The MW2 Title Update is now live! It may take a few minutes for everyone worldwide to get it – our apologies for the delay. #MW2″
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 fans have been clamouring to get their hands on the highly anticipated Stimulus Package Map Pack, yet its launch has been met with issues that see the original game unable to render them correctly. Fortunately, the Xbox Live team are looking into the issue and it will hopefully be fixed shortly.
Daniel Maher, Xbox Live Editor, states “Stimulus Package update: We’re looking into why they aren’t working, but we suspect a new title update is required and is due shortly.”
Robert Bowling had previously stated that a title update would be released today, regardless of whether you are looking to purchase the DLC or not. This is necessary to support the downloadable content, as well as adding some tweaks and matchmaking updates.
Maher has just released more news regarding the fix, “Stimulus Package update: The Title Update is currently being prepped, but could take four hours to appear everywhere once it’s ready.”
For those panicking that the DLC is bugged, take a few deep breaths – it has probably been released ahead of the title update, so no need to worry for now. Patience is a virtue, as they say, just hold tight for a couple of hours.
