Microsoft’s been in a ‘silent’ war with Sony ever since they realized that Microsoft Flight Simulator or Forza were not going to win it.
Despite the hardware supremacy and market penetration with Game Pass, Microsoft was losing big time. Just why they’ve gone on a buying spree and looped in Bethesda the moment Starfield was registered as the next Bethesda project (surely talks started well before and it won’t surprise me if Microsoft actively assisted in bringing Starfield about.)
Starfield on Game Pass is the check they wanted to play. Not that Microsoft didn’t already have a good repository of games. But they didn’t have something like Starfield to really bring it all in and become the torchbearer for the next generation of immersive space RPG gaming.
Is Starfield on Game Pass?
Yes it is and if you already had your Game Pass subscription active before Starfield’s release date, your Starfield edition will include some goodies in-game.
To be more precise, the Starfield you have available via Game Pass is the Standard Edition, priced $69.99 as a digital copy with the Premium Edition tagged at $99.99. But all you need to play Starfield on Game Pass is $9.99.
The basic PC game pass gets you Starfield Standard Edition. If you have a Windows 10 running, you may face some issues so check out Microsoft’s help page right here but with an 11 it should run fine enough.
You should be playing Starfield by now!
How does it Play on Game Pass
Assuming your internet bandwidth holds up and you have the basic PC requirements and settings sorted, playing Starfield on Game Pass should be a breeze.
Microsoft and Bethesda have a lot pinned on Starfield, reason why we’ve seen limited and acceptable gameplay bugs and fun glitches at best.
The only difference between playing Starfield on Game Pass and not on it is that you need to be online for the former, as is obvious for all Game Pass titles.
Playing Starfield online does not really make much of a difference since the whole game essentially plays from your drive with Game Pass only keeping track of whether you’re playing the game or trying to come up with a cracked version of it.
Hoping you are sticking to just the gameplay, gaming experience will completely depend on your system although you should tweak the settings around a bit to get more fps and fun, hit that settings and requirements go-to above.
Yes there are forums full of people complaining about getting stuck in-conversation with NPCs and Companions while trying to proceed through key missions.
This is a commonly rare occurrence for Starfield Game Pass players across PCs and consoles. But that’s ok. We expect no more or no less from Bethesda.
Can you play Starfield on Xbox One with Game Pass?
To play Starfield on your Xbox One you need to have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Why? Starfield is not natively supported on Xbox One. So to play it either way on your Xbox One and since you’re not considering upgrading to an Xbox X/S which you should, you need Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is basically running a game on the cloud and not really on the device per se.
Starfield had 1 million gamers playing live on launch and it’s hugely successful as a Game Pass and Xbox exclusive. Bethesda’s already outdone their Skyrim records with Starfield. It’s a hit and not a miss. Starfield on Game Pass is a resounding success and with new expansion packs already hitting the rumor mill, we’re only getting started with this space journey.
