GTA 6 News: Release Date, Footage, Budget, Location and More

There’s no new Grand Theft Auto for a decade now.

Not that Rockstar’s been sleeping on a rock.

They have set new gold standards for AAA gaming titles irrespective of the genre with RDR2. I have set aside GTA for RDR2 for the last few years and it’s been fun. But I also end up cutting back to GTA online now and then.

10 years is a long time.

GTA 6 Release Date

There is no official release date yet, but everyone knows Rockstar’s working on a new Grand Theft Auto since February 2022.

That and in September of the same year, Rockstar confirmed the mega GTA 6 leaks as unauthorized third-party access, which explains how fans are right now.

Then there’s the stage show during Bethesda’s Gamescom. (Starfield is filling in for a new GTA.)

All in all, we need an official GTA 6 release date soon.

What we know so far – it’s either late 2024 or anytime in 2025.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has pointed out how GTA 6 must be unique and perfect. That and Strauss’s comments on a very prospective fiscal 2025 hint at a GTA 6 release in that timeframe creating an estimated ‘$8 billion in bookings.’

Also, the game’s ready to go as per industry insider sources and Rockstar is hiring ‘localization’ experts for the final touches.

So, if Take-Two is expecting that much to come in as ‘bookings’, GTA 6 might be slated for pre-release in fiscal 2025, which is the calendar year 2024, and then a release in early 2025.

GTA VI Leaked Footage

We did get a bunch of leaked GTA 6 footage back in September 2022. Rockstar plugged the hole and copyrighted the content, which only confirms the leaked footage was literally pre-alpha GTA 6.

The leaked content does show up now and then. But it’s still not cool to share it without backlash so that’s that.

Game Budget

There’s close to no news on this, only speculations.

GTA 6 is supposed to be bigger with a more interactive open world among other new never-seen-before stuff, compared to their last best release RDR2. It will surely be miles ahead of GTA 5 which had around $265 million put into it although I’m sure that’s just on paper.

Considering on-paper estimates, the most expensive video game to date may be Star Citizen, capped at $300 million.

Just so, I would put the GTA 6 budget to be around $500 million.

GTA 6 Location

50 Cent’s Vice City post back in March didn’t have anything to do with GTA 6. Despite the Vice City poster, it was for a new original series with the same name.

But it does make sense for GTA 6 to go back to Vice City again.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, our starting GTA 6 location will be Vice City and the game will spread to other cities over time.

We’ve come across ‘Project Americas’ a couple of times. Add that to how Lucia may be a GTA 6 playable character, we’re getting hints that GTA 6 will probably progress to Mexico or Columbia or maybe Rio?
