Good news for Elden Ring players who have been eagerly anticipating a DLC announcement – FromSoftware has finally granted their wishes with the announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree, a new expansion currently in development.
Rather than making a big appearance at a recent event like State of Play, the DLC was announced through a simple tweet from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. But let’s be real, those who’ve been waiting for a year probably don’t care how the announcement is made, as long as it’s made.
Shadow of the Erdtree details
As for the details of the expansion, unfortunately, all we know is that it’s currently in development. FromSoftware did share some key art for the Shadow of the Erdtree, but it doesn’t offer much information on what the DLC entails.
While we don’t have a release date or window for the first Elden Ring expansion just yet, at least we know that one is on the way. And for fans of the game, that’s definitely something to look forward to.
Elden Ring just keeps getting better
By now, Elden Ring’s success is old news, with the game has sold over 20 million copies. However, fans were eagerly awaiting news of a DLC announcement to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary. Unfortunately, that day came and went without any sign of extra content or expansions.
Despite updates to Elden Ring’s retail listings and rumors of a DLC, there was still no official announcement. Fans have been hanging on to these rumors in the absence of any concrete news.
Many expected last week’s State of Play event to bring some sort of Elden Ring DLC announcement, especially since PlayStation had promised to showcase third-party games.
However, the event came and went without any updates on the game. Fans are wondering when they’ll finally hear about new content for Elden Ring.
